Multimeters are good but for just checking for power the little screw driver with a light bulb in handle are handy ( or make your own up )
Halfords do them for less than a fiver.

Re: Rear fog light 2000 X reg
Normally you need to have the side lights or headlights on to get the rear fog to work. Have you tested see if there is power to the positive in the rear fog? If there is then check the earth. If no power, try to follow the wire back up to the front or from the switch toward the rear. As these are n...

Re: New Bongo owner needs advice please (2.0)
I use Mobil 10w - 30 or 10w - 40. You’ll need 3.9 litres with the filter change (never understood why anyone would change oil and not filter). Handbook says every 15,000 km or once a year. I think Europarts stock filters for Bongos. Have fun, it’s by doing stuff yourself that you can keep an eye on ...

Re: New Bongo owner needs advice please (2.0)
The coolant level shouldn’t drop much. My car went five years before it needed a top up. If you have checked there are no leaks in the Bongo, and there are many pipes and joints to check, I’d top it up and just keep an eye on it and not worry. If I had the 2.5 diesel I’d be watching it like a hawk. ...

Re: New Bongo owner needs advice please (2.0)
If you are just topping it up to half way between the max min I’d use Prestone. This will mix with any anti freeze. I’d just pour it in neat as that’ll increase protection.
Being the 2.0ltr engine the system self bleeds, so changing the coolant is a doddle.

Re: Dual purpose battery
Thanks. Have had a dual purpose battery on a boat for a couple of years. Despite the hammering it gets in the bows it’s been fine as both starter and domestic battery. Jus5 waiting for correct size / layout/ amps to come in stock. The old leisure battery is destined for the electric poultry fencing

Dual purpose battery
My leisure battery could do with replacing. I saw some batteries can now act as both a starter and a leisure battery. This got me thinking if I had one of those I could always jump start the starter battery should I need to. My leisure battery is fitted with quick release terminals so I could discon...

Re: Wing mirrors - with repeaters
Likewise never seen those built into the door mirror (you got a photo?) or are these actually mounted to the wing? One my 2002 the repeaters are part of headlamp cluster.

Re: Wheel arches cost to replace
You also need to consider the time it takes to remove the interior before they can start welding - otherwise the Bongo will be toast. £2,400 doesn’t sound to bad give the work involved to be honest. If you’re looking for cheaper alternative get some fibre glass repair stuff and do it yourself. Just ...

Re: Persistent Coolant Leakage
Don’t be put off working on the old Bongo yourself. It’s very basic and nothing like modern cars that even need a computer to reprogram them once the battery has been replaced.

Re: Selling for parts
I was brought up with rusty cars. My Dad had an old Anglia which was more fibre glass than metal. He hand painted it by brush and it looked great. Can remember all the Dad’s fixing up their old cars.
