Re: Rough start but then no problem at all

When you say throttle open I take it you mean you push the throttle pedal full down?. When starting a diesel bongo you should not touch the throttle, it should all be done automatically, the ECU adjust the fuel pump and engages the cold start solenoids etc. If it doesn't like starting this way as b...

Re: Where to? Taking wires from leisure battery through to cab

Another option is through the air ducting and into the passenger footwell

Re: Diesel or Petrol

That's interesting, thank you. I have read a lot on overheating on here, I didn't realise that it was more common in the diesel. Is it coolant leaking from perished hoses that is the common cause then? It's not more common in the diesel, just the consequences of overheating are often more severe fo...

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold

I've now replaced the coolant sensor (in addition to most of the vacuum hosing and two of the four solenoids) but don't think my issue is solved. With a spare coolant sensor and some ice, I can see that the vacuum system is working in that the actuator does move to increase rpm when the sensor is co...

Re: How can I protect my new exhaust/catalytic converter from being stolen again??

I actually saw on instagram where a garage had made a steel frame around someone's exhaust to prevent the cat from being stolen again. It was a bongo and all - looked horrific but would probably work

Re: freda 2.5td slow start from cold problems

Very helpful, you wouldn't happen to have a part number would you? Is this the same sensor which operates the gauge in the dashboard?

I'm strugglign to navigate the diagrams on a work laptop

Re: freda 2.5td slow start from cold problems

Thank for the replies. The issues I'm having are, vehicle is occassionaly a bit difficult to start when it's cold but it normally starts after two or three attempts and will run quite rough, it will barely idle if left alone but if it is reved or moved at all, it will cut out when the revs drop, par...

Re: freda 2.5td slow start from cold problems

Sorry to pump this old thread - I've just replaced all my vacuum hosing and one of thr solenoids which had the hose connector broken. I'm still having issues.

Does anyone know what temperature sensor the solenoids act off?

Re: Thanks!

Good to see you're out and about. Re: your last post, you will build confidence in the van as you get to know it but there really is no point in having it if you're afraid to use it. You have to get into the spirit that even if something does go wrong, it's not the end of the world, if the coolant a...

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold

So I think I have found what was hopefully causing, or at least contributing to, this problem. Had a look at my vacuum hosing and found that the nipple coming from the air inlet pipe coming from the air filter had broken off so the vaccum hosing was actually not attached at all. Drilled through the ...

Do you plan to do anything with seatbelts for the rear-facing seats?

Re: Reversing the middle seat

You can definitely do that, no issue. One minor niggle, is that once reversed, the middle seat won't slide as far up towards the front of the van while upright, as the back of the seats gets in the way with the back of the front seats. Just something to bear in mind, you have to fold them down to ge...

Re: Thinking of joining the Bongo world

More than likely the EHU has been installed in that panel - looks to be a plug or something there? It's definitely someone has boarded over where the normal trim would have been, maybe the rear heater matrix has been removed - these can leak so a lot of people remove or blank them, negating the need...
