yeah I did! saw the mountain biking stickers (mine has them too of course). Mine is the other white over gray (but older shape) van parked next to yours getting a brand new (proper) radiator.Welshcav wrote:

Re: Lookin for my first Bongo - help please!
+1 for bill (campercraft). I was there today in fact at the new place in kirkcaldy. I posted on the other thread, essentially saying that a free top of some kind is really worth it - for living accommodation "upstairs" - whilst it may be a bit of a squeeze for two +10 yr olds, younger ones...

Re: Help! - radiator just burst away from home - need advice
Thanks everyone, we stopped after 14 miles to check and the radweld seems to have worked a treat with pretty much no coolant loss. Bongo being booked in for new all metal radiator next week!

Re: Help! - radiator just burst away from home - need advice
thanks for that. It's just idling now with the radweld in. still drips of pure blue coolant coming out but it's only been on for 5 mins. We'll let it cool down again before heading off and will top up. Like any bongo'er, I have a couple of litres of coolant in the back! does anyone know how many lit...

Re: Help! - radiator just burst away from home - need advice
just got a lift to a local petrol station and have returned with two 250ml containers of Radweld. I think it's got a wee hole on the seam of the top black park of the radiator and not the honeycomb. Going to try the radweld, keep the heaters on full, and take it easy. -- then book it in for a new ra...

Help! - radiator just burst away from home - need advice
up in scotland (luckily at my parents) and noticed a whiff of white steam when I stopped. There is a leak in the radiator right up at the top which is about 1 drip per second. I've checked the hoses (all OK) and in the picture below you can see where the wee cable is wet. Looks like a broken weld or...

Re: Incessant beeping on a test drive
This sounds very much like a coolant alarm where the coolant is just below the level. Run away, run away
Mine did this before I fixed a minor leak and had to keep topping up with coolant

Re: Solar Trickle Charger
Most of these solar chargers are just a con I'm afraid :( so long as you do the maths and have a proper charging circuit then it will prolong the leisure battery for an extra day or two. The little ones (i.e. less than £80) are pretty rubbish though. You've also got to think about how your devices ...

Re: Solar Trickle Charger
yes, I use one because my van is often parked up for a couple of days at mountain bike races. I tend to use the bigger solar panels - my aim is to get at least 1A through them on a reasonably bright day and that keeps the phone charger and the wifi hotspot going without drawing on the leisure batter...

Re: 4W Solar Trickle Charger
4W is just not enough really - and remember that it will probably only supply 1/3 amp in optimal conditions, i.e. a 90amp battery would take 270hours of perfect solar conditions to charge. I have a much larger fold out unit that supplies 1.2A (13W) on a cloudy day however, I'm probably going to upgr...

Re: oil leakage marks - normal
could be a sign that diesel is mixing with oil in the engine - it makes the oil seem much thinner and since the viscosity is much lower it can be pushed out the sides when warmer. one of the experts will know why this happens and what to do about it.

Re: Campercraft Disaster!
was there yesterday to pick up the bongo; Bill's got to move and so when they do, we'll sort out some kind of meetup & BBQ. He's thinking about easter-ish time. From the sounds of it, he got all the bongo's out in the nick of time. He had driven over in bongo-bumper height snow to collect some t...

FIXED Re: slightly squeaky on startup
it turned out that the bearings in the water pump where knackered and so a new waterpump and new belts (while we're at it) have completely solved the problem. It also explained why I was loosing a small amount of water/coolant
thanks for the tips.

Re: Rust above rear bumper
funnily enough, mine is at Campercraft the moment and has just been waxoiled inside that compartment. They put a tube in through various holes behind the rear speaker/below window area and through the tail light. Going to pick it up tomorrow.
