Re: coolant leak - or not
I say I have a coolant leak. Well, I know I have - if I don't top it up regularly, I overheat. How many times has it overheated? The Dye will stain the area it escapes from...however fine a mist Thanks Haydn. :) I think it would be worthwhile looking in the places mentioned in the links above, espe...

Re: coolant leak - or not
One of our members (bongalong), had a similar problem - the coolant was evaporating, so he couldn't see it where the leak was. (I don't know, but I'm assuming that leak detector dye might evaporate with the coolant? Haydn will know.) Bongalong's post about the leak is here. Also, another member (Mal...

Re: Oil leak/Filter
It tightened OK then, good one! As the plastic shroud is around the cable for a reason (heat protection?) I would replace it with some cable protector. Thanks for the info all Im feeling a tad confident it was the filter.

Re: Clear film on side mirrors
I think it's applied to try to stop the mirrors misting? It's usually pretty well stuck and sorry, we've never had to remove it.

Re: Oil leak/Filter
It is the return pipe for the oil feed to the turbo. They all have a plastic shroud on them, so possibly not a repair. And they are usually slightly damp with oil.

Thanks Haydn. If you ever design one that stops it bubbling like a volcano under the passenger seat, let me know! Quite an experience!

Re: Towing a caravan
The low coolant alarm (totally differant system to the TM-2) warns you of any small loss of coolant from the header tank....LONG BEFORE any rise in temp takes place I heard a whistling noise from the centre of the dash (expansion bottle area!) The noise got louder and the temperature gauge immediat...

Re: Radiator Blocked
The Bongo had had problems b4 we got it and had had a new head fitted - the dealer (Related to the Lone Ranger I think) said that it was due to the stat sticking, but it makes me wonder if they knew the rad was blocked and just wanted rid It is important to find out why it overheated in the first p...

"what to do afterwards if you consider you've been royally shafted by an unscrupulous seller" FAQ? Good idea but the best advice is probably to contact your local Trading Standards, as they know more about the legalities and how to proceed than we do. This link gives pretty straight forwa...

Re: Auto gearbox question
Last time it was in the garage I asked if they could drop the auto box sump and clean the filter but they were reluctant to do this as 'an autobox specialist told them never to do this' Sounds like you should do it yourself as 'treacley' is not normal. [/b] If there's no actual gearbox problem then...
