Re: Changing from 2WD to 4WD

hi,

The other way of doing it might be to buy a good, unconverted 4x4 and swapping over the interiors, trim and anything else you want to keep then selling on your old 2wd.

Might be a silly question, but would something as simple as a change to winter/knobbly tyres help?

Re: Pull out awning for Mazda Bongo

Hi, I've had a Fiamma F45, bought secondhand off Fleabay for around 4 years now, does everything its supposed to do with no problems and spares are easily available. You can also get custom brackets for the Bongo, which fit under the hooks for the AFT cover. (AVA Liesure?). Would also suggest some f...

Re: Any views on buying a narrowboat

Hi, I seem to remember hearing and seeing something about an NB being recovered. It is a sad fact of life and very tragic that every year there are fatalities around our coasts and on our inland waterways. However, many of the incidents are avoidable if people obeyed some common sense rules and stop...

Re: Dehumidifier recommendations

Hi,
A couple of old socks full of cat litter certainly helps in the wifes Astra. The Bongo seems to stay pretty dry, but I keep the eyebrow vent in the AFT and the roof hatch permanantly open so there is always a bit of through ventilation.

Re: Any views on buying a narrowboat

Hi Mike, This thread is getting interesting, so I had a look at a couple of brokers and I was surprised at the prices of narrow boats so I'm wondering if this is beginning to become a new trend. However there seem to be an increasing number of very reasonably priced sports cruisers around. I got sid...

Mike -

Many years ago I used to be a member of South Devon Watersports and was given a warning - "everything that floats is a money pit"

Re: Tools?

Hi, Depends if you mean tools you keep at home or stuff to carry in the Bongo. I (normally) carry a tool roll that I can cram into the cubby hole where the jack goes, but the contents are pretty basic - a set of ring/open enders, large & small pliers, medium size Mole grips, a small selection of...

Re: Large Moggies

Helen - As you say, a lot of animals were dumped after the '76 act. There have been exotic animal collectors in the UK since at least Victorian times and I have no doubt that a number have been either been released or have escaped since then. Nobody really knows because there was little, if anything...

Re: Large Moggies

Hi Bob, I know some pumas were wild on the moor in the '80s, possibly escaped from Mary Chipperfield but what I MIGHT have seen way pre-dates that. I know that because I can remember what car we had at the time and it would be '69 or '70. We used to be regulars at the pub in Cornwood and once the lo...

Large Moggies

Hi, More big cat sightings reported in the media, this time in Bedfordshire. Could it be that it is a quiet time of the year for news, or could it be that there are more people out and about in the warmer weather? For a number of years I lived in Devon and used to spend time in one of the village pu...

Re: Coolant tank empty

Hi, ADS in Bristol are highly regarded in the Bongo community. I've used them twice and found them second to none. You really don't need a garage to fit an LCA - if you use the one from Haydn, they come with everything you need and they really are a doddle to fit. If you do attempt it and get stuck ...

"Fact: Its not a racist comment if its directed at the French or the Americans."

Or Grockles. Just had my o/s door mirror taken off by an idiot in a rented motorhome who didn't realise how wide it was. He didn't bother to stop, but I was quick to turn round and caught him.

Re: Please Help. Blown engine

Hi, I don't know much about the 2.0 motor, but if it was an engine I was familiar with I would look to see if all the oily bits that should be rotating such as the camshaft and distributor are doing so. I seem to remember that there was a case of a snapped camshaft reported some time ago, but as I h...

Re: Space saver temporary spare tyre purchase

Hi, A lot of people bin the space saver and use a full sized steel rim with "proper" rubber on it. Straight steels are frequently available from Bongo breakers and importers/owners who fit alloys. You will probably find that even if you have to buy brand new rubber and a second hand full s...
