Re: Webasto Diesel Heater
Dave - Thanks for the info, it looks for my needs that the Propex is the way to go. Wonder if anybody has thought of or tried running the hot exhaust flue on a Propex through the water tank to act as a heat exchanger. How efficient it would be would depend on the exhaust temp of the Propex and the d...

Re: Webasto Diesel Heater
Hi, Just a thought, because I too have been looking at fitting a gas or diesel heater. I liked the idea of being able to run one off the main (diesel) fuel tank, but then I read somewhere - possibly on this forum - that veg oil is a big no no because it is likely to knacker the heater. Can anybody c...

Re: 12 V Cool box - are they noisy?
Hi, I use one of the Waeco Tropicool units. Not the cheapest coolbox around, but you get what you pay for. Thermostatic control, very quiet (though I am a bit deaf) and strong enough to sit on. Lasts for a long weekend without running the engine for an LB recharge. I cool it and the contents down in...

I'll Get My Coat!!!
THE STRANGE TALE OF JOHN LUX Entymology, we are told is the study of language and its origins, and this story was related to me one evening in the snug of the Queens Legs - a small pub on the outskirts of Nether Spanking (which by the way has very strong links with the late Jimmy Saville. But that i...

Re: I'm a bit twp. Leisure Battery.
Hi Annie, First of all, though its nothing to do with the leisure battery, consider getting a low coolant alarm fitted particularly if its a diesel. If the coolant level goes down too much on them you could be looking at big bucks. Don't rely on the temp gauge, they are a waste of space and don't gi...

Re: Lightwieght plywood
Hi, Robbins in Bristol do a marine ply they call their Elite range and one of these is lightweight. I used it for my short side conversion and was surprised how light it was. Seems good quality and cuts well, but not particularly cheap. Available in various thicknesses and in sheets, halves and quar...

Hi Mike,
Just to complicate matter slightly, some types of LED have a built in resistor. Unfortunately you can't tell by looking at them whether they have or not.

Re: Please help!!
Hi, OK, I'm not that familiar with the workings of the Bongo transmission and no doubt somebody who knows more about it than me will stick their head up soon to tell me I'm wrong, but first suspect would be tyre sizes. Tyres on all wheels need to have the same rolling radius or it can be goodbye tra...

Re: window tints and leds
Hi,
Try looking at Rolls Royce Black Pearl metallic for your wheels. Very rarely seen colour, I once did a set of Wolfrace for my custom Stag in it and wow! Much more subtle than black. Also seen it used on a pimped Cobra replica.
Sorry, no code for it.

No, you are not!
Having said that, there must be hundreds of Bongos out there running round quite happily with no cooling problems. Unfortunately the only ones we read about here are the ones that are being difficult.

Re: Coolant alarm
Haydn, I was referring to the tag washers to which the wires are attached. One of the screw holes was through the tank just where the mould line is at the bottom left. The plastic on my tank is a bit thin and floppy there so I used a thin rubber washer the right size for the screw and about 7mm od. ...

Re: Coolant alarm
Haydn, You are quite correct - one of the screws was not as tight as I would have liked. I took them both out and fitted new sealing washers as a precaution and made sure they were both properly tight (but not over tight) on refitting. No problem now. Having said that, something to keep an eye out f...

Re: Coolant alarm
Hi Ady, You make some good points there. All the alarms you can fit are no substitute for a properly maintained coolant system and I have never been one of those people who closes the bonnet and doesn't open it again for months. A check for drips under pressure (?) is part of my regular routine just...

Re: Coolant alarm
Thanks Ady, warning noted. At the back of my mind is to build up a little bit of veroboard with a zener, variable resistor, transistor and a self oscillating piezo sounder on it to give an adjustable over temperature audible alarm much like the Masons alarm. I have to admit that, like Winchman I'm s...
