Re: Powering laptop from leisure battery

I use a laptop quite a lot whilst "working" in the Glenshee carpark when up there skiing. I also have a WiFi-to-3G hotspot with a roof mounted antenna to get good internet connectivity. I find that using a netbook uses a lot less energy. The hotspot has battery backup - all the kit can be ...

Re: Paint code for the Silver on lower half

I think I've got the same - a browner-silver colour on the mazdaspeed bumpers and a big vinyl sticker down the side. If anyone knows the colour code for the bumpers and skirts; I'd be most grateful.

Re: ipad 2 3g tariffs - best for coverage in Scotland

iplayer, 4od, sky go etc use enormous bandwidth and you can easily use up a months allowance on a pay as you go stick in about 40 minutes of HD viewing. 3G really isn't high enough bandwidth for watching online broadcasts - especially out in the sticks.

Re: ipad 2 3g tariffs - best for coverage in Scotland

Actually, I've also got a 3 USB "pay as you go stick" and it is working well in the northern central belt. When it doesn't have coverage I just stick the tmobile stick in.

I think they are either 100W or 102W but certainly say "EXTRA LOAD" on the side.

Re: check your 18" Accelerra tyres for splits!

yes, could well be. Certainly when I picked up the van a few years ago the tyre pressures were about 30psi! I tend to do for 38/40 or thereabouts. I checked the other tyres and they are OK.

check your 18" Accelerra tyres for splits!

hi folks, I was sniffing around the bongo and noticed that one accelerra tyres (that fit on the rx-8 wheels) had really split badly on the inside edge. luckily I had another rx-8 wheel and changed it immediately. check yours today! (and then report back if you also have splits) http://www.proflex.de...

Re: 3G Internet in France

At bike races we use a 3G internet dongle with a 50cm magmount antenna on the roof to boost the signal. The wifi hotspot has its own battery backup but trickle charges through the leisure battery and solar panels.

Re: Bongo buying Scotland

could definitely recommend bill, he looks after mine and I've had quite a bit done to it. Bill doesn't have many bongo's for sale (they tend to go) but he's probably got the most expertise in the area. There's some buying tips on the forum somewhere that I wrote about buying from an individual.

Re: ipad 2 3g tariffs - best for coverage in Scotland

I use o2 and tmobile all over scotland. You'll get 3G coverage all the way up the M73 and A9 from the border to Inverness and will get 2.5G/2G on the A8x roads on the west coast. I've even worked from the spittal of glenshee carpark (wasn't skiing on a work day, honest). bongo related: I have a 3G <...

Re: Spare wheel dilemma

I have the same problem. I have an RX-8 wheel, with a new tyre in the shed because the dangly bit won't go through the hole on the RX8 wheel. The RX8 wheels have a machined lip on them to fit over the hub and so the hole diameter is a cm or two less.

I'm thinking of getting these as 2 downhill mountain bikes hanging off the back uses the maxumum travel on the rear springs on the way up throught the highlands and can feel the bongo rear suspension bottom out. Must check the fact sheet...

might not be important to you - but mine does a handy job of preventing the engine bay from being packed solid with snow and ice!

The great radiator shortage of 2011 (metal topped one)

I'm trying to find a metal topped radiator for a 2.5l diesel bongo - but there seems to be a bit of a shortage at the usual places of these due to the problems getting stuff from Japan at the moment. I've got an option to use one of the cheaper black-plastic topped radiators but I'd prefer not to si...
