Re: Rear power point wiring
Don't know if you've considered this but you could go underneath the vehicle instead. there is a vent just behind the rear 12v socket going to the outside world. it would save you ripping out the interior you'd just need to make sure you routed the wire safely as it would be the only wire outside th...

Re: Radiator fans coming on when trying to bleed?
It does sound as though you do have an air lock in there as no other overheating problems are current. if you can I'd do away with the self bleeding system and revert back to the 3 part video found on here. bleeding air out on my diesel (96) takes between 40 minutes to an hour and can't be rushed it...

As a double check and somewhat easier to see remove the small plate on the top of the bell housing and check the position of the flywheel markings that you'll find there. I used correction marker (white ink) to mark the pulley's and the TDC marker in the bell housing.

Re: Fuel cut off solenoid
If it doesn't do it when sitting still but does after moving that really does suggest a loose wire or dirty terminal somewhere

Re: Fuel cut off solenoid
I'm fairly certain that you can remove it without removing the pump but equally I would suspect it being an electrical problem rather than mechanical. have you check the wiring to the solenoid and feeds and earths when switching off? the fuel shut off soleniod is a hefty piece of work and you can fe...

Re: Valve stem oil seals

Valve stem oil seals
Hi, I'm getting a puff of blue smoke on start up which quickly disappears and doesn't reappear on hot restarts only when cold. Also the engine is lumpy when on cold start which again stops within a minute. I'm thinking that this is valve stem oil seals which is backed up by the fact that I found a p...

Re: blue smoke on start up !
Can I just re-open this posting as it applies to me. recently probably since the warmer weather on start up it's put out quite a bit of blue smoke that clears almost straight away and it is lumpy more than it used to be again for only a few seconds. I'm using the best fuel and the recommended oil. T...

Re: Engine, acceleration and fuel consumption
From a standing start the Bongo may struggle to achieve motorway speed in the short length of a motorway slip road but this is not the case you will be doing at least 30 or 40 as you enter the slip road and the Bongo is more than capable of achieving 60-70 mph within the distance of a slip road. if ...

Re: Identify Pipe help
i agree with Doone above this must be spray from a nearby coolant hose. could you run the engine up to full running temperature then lift the seat up with it still running to see if you can see any spray or leaks from the much bigger hoses nearby.

Re: Identify Pipe help
Do you have a coolant level indicator? This may be a better route for you as it will give an audible alarm if the coolant level in the filler tank drops below a certain level. I also have a new head and the coolant alarm and digital thermometer I have fitted keep me up to date with things without ha...

Re: Reverse light/buzzer intermittent
Thanks for that Geoff. i will be replacing it with reversing censors which will give a better indication than is currently the case so I would have thought that would be ok. probably what I will do is install the censor first to see if it is loud enough to override the current buzzer and is so maybe...

Re: Roof sucesses
Yes the trick is to spot the little dimple or spot on the head, otherwise Philips head seems to fit quite well, but those screws are soft mild steel and do damage easily! That does go a long way to explain why I had so much trouble stripping down a Japanese carb on a chainsaw recently though. Well ...

Re: Reverse light/buzzer intermittent
I wonder if I could hijack this old post to ask a question? I've recently had a lot of bodywork done on the bongo as part of the final parts of its restoration. with the paintwork all shiny and mechanics all A ok it was time to let the wife drive it for the first time. I guess it was my fault for no...
