Re: Rattling noise
I think it's about 35/36 mm bolt holding the pulley on so you'll need that size socket. I'm sure the more expert will give you the exact size. then the pulley is held on with a woodruff key so levering will eventually get it off. but worse case you may need a puller. the pulley drives your alternato...

Re: Expansion tank
Hm.. seems a shame to point a finger at one of the best but if you regularly check your level as it sounds as though you do you'll know what is normal and what's not and the only thing that's changed is the recent service. off the top of my head I can't think of any fault that would increase the coo...

Re: Cylinder head replacement
I think Bob's suggestion above to get your mechanic to watch the three excellent videos would possibly kill two birds with one stone. If you know and trust your mechanic once he is confident to bleed out the cooling system there is not really anything else on the Bongo that will catch him out to be ...

Re: Cylinder head replacement
Sorry to hear that but at least it did get you there  . I can't be of any help to you in regard to a Bongo Garage although there is a list of friendly garages in the members area. The cylinder head replacement is not a dark science. As you refer to it in the singular I'm guessing you have the ...

Re: possible propshaft universal joint going
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm beginning to worry that it is something else now as there really isn't any vibration to speak of in a 25 year old diesel! Could it be something else about to let go. it really is quite an uncomfortable clonk as it changes gear. if i put my foot down so the change is ...

Re: possible propshaft universal joint going
Hi, When my rear prop died, it was the UJ that failed, it vibrated like a bugger over 20mph though! My local garage removed the rear prop and sent it to Eurodriveshats to be fixed, in all they took £150 for the removal/repair/refit. Been fine since... Thanks for the reply really appreciated. I'll l...

Re: Back to Bongo?
No Bongo complies with the ULEZ unfortunately no matter what engine is fitted :-( Thanks, it looks like I may have to get something else, shame I really loved the bongo That's a shame do you visit London that often that it's a show stopper? I'm not sure there are many other options that would compl...

Re: Head gasket? Sniff test
Many thanks for all your replies, I went off camping for a few days there to cleanse the soul ♥️ I will order another test and fit both the coolant alarm and engine temp sensor while he is resting up just now, can’t do any harm 👍 Good news is that in fitting both the alarm and sensor you do not nee...

possible propshaft universal joint going
Hi, I've noticed an increasing clonk when changing from 1st to 2nd on my 2.5 Diesel Auto 69 AWD, other gears are as smooth as always and no issue going into reverse. I imagine that the torque is greatest between 1st and 2nd than other gears. I have no vibration but wondering if I have a universal jo...

Re: Head gasket? Sniff test
I think a new pressure cap would be your cheapest and most assuring alternative to trying to get yours tested considering the distance you need to travel and the relative cost of a new unit. If however you've driven 250 miles without any problems I would consider a second opinion or buy a kit from e...

Re: Anxiety over changing the cam belt - 2.5 diesel.
There is another way without a socket. if you remove the rear inspection plate located between the two front seats you'll see a small inspection plate on the top of the bell housing. if you remove that you can turn the engine using a large flat bladed screwdriver pushed into the ring gear teeth and ...

blinds, cubby hole, gas rams, skin fitting hook up
Hi I've had a shed clear out and have a few bits and bobs that may. help somebody out. 4 tail gate gas rams. I'm not sure if they are ok but I think they are. i ordered a pair from Bongo spares which didn't improve the tail gate staying up but they were happy to send another pair just in case the fi...
