Re: Fitting a volt meter for less than £5
I use these on projects too. Not put one in bongo just yet, still looking for a good place to put it, although I would need a switch on it because the leisure battery is 'always on' and this would drain it...

Re: Rear drop link bolts?
I recently replaced mine, I used a 17mm socket wrench with an extending arm. One of the bolts on the front was 19mm! Also worth having a 17mm spanner in case the nut is on tightly and rotates the whole ball and bolt.

Re: Fitting a double din cage
here's the notes from when I did it: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=38039 There really isn't much room. After I wrote the article linked above, i installed a 12V freeview box - but had to drill out a larger hole in the retainer bracket at the back of the 2.1x DIN spa...

if you are feeling a little adventurous with a cutter and dremel... then the fiamma (for mercedes vito) rack fits perfectly. The fiama racks come with a 4 bike extension hoop.

Re: Fuel Consumption Calculators
it's a shame that the bongo does not have an OBDii port. I have a Garmin Nuvi sat nav that links to the ecoroute HD connector attached to my subaru's OBDii port - it measures the actual fuel flow rate and calculates mpg in real time and graphs it out. Although it has a nasty side effect, when you st...

Re: wild camping
semi-wild camping for me: usually at places like the carpark at the base of Aonach Mor/Glenshee/glencoe ski carparks. All three are considering putting in elec hookups (but there aren't any just yet) but there are some facilities available and they are friendly enough. it's OK to wild camp in the fo...

Re: Weird noise when drive selected (2.5td auto 2wd)
is it a slight knock, like someone knocking on a door really lightly (and slowly)?
the sound on my van seems to come from down by my right leg - I always thought it sounds like a relay flipping. I think it only comes up when in drive and with the brakes on...

Mine is another wheelquick original that'll be over in kirkcaldy this week. mine had the mysterious white circle of no wax-oil where the spare wheel goes! Bill noticed and fixed it for me last year. I've been thinking of getting mine repainted as well.

VW T5 conversions are pretty comment here (Scotland), with many converters using similar materials to the bongo outfitters. Pretty expensive plus unless you buy the 175PS T5, they are pretty slow. http://www.jerbacampervans.co.uk http://www.jerbacampervans.co.uk/assets/jerba%20new%20images/larger/lw...

hehe - another mountain biker/bongo combo.
the only good thing about Bill being based up towards knockhill were the trails at blairadam forest closeby. I often took the bike while he was tinkering with the van! I'll have to look out some trails near kirkcaldy for my next trip!

Re: Warped Exhaust Manifold
how far does the plastic cover go? mine seems to only cover the front part. which made for a hooligan moment when listening for a problematic no1 with the passenger seat up (side window down) driving along a farm road at night in the dark and then went through a puddle which instantly steamed up the...
