Re: 1999 petrol auto 2.0 discs and drums replacement.. easy DIY?
Just re-activating this thread....someone has been on the phone to say that his rear discs won't budge, and he wants to fit some new ones. Any tips? backed off the drum - handbrake shoes? A timely reminder to me that I've been meaning to have the rears off and check the parking shoes and their asso...

Re: Kent/south London based bongo repair needed.
I am not far away from you and have been through the leaking radiator, replacement and bleeding routines but thankfully not the head gasket sub plot. If you can be sure that you haven't got an airlock the drive to Dormans Garage is doable via safe non motorway routes if you need to stop every so oft...

Re: Freda Office
Reading this thread reminds me that I have got a reasonably good Type 25 VW parked up at home. Maybe I should live in it during the winter as it will be cheaper to heat than the house! At the moment it is home to boxes of maturing firewood and my collection of extra steel wheels with useable tyres f...

Re: And the Bongo is gone!
Now back to the new van which I've been working on, as it broke down on the first proper trip out (gear linkage) and had us all wondering if we were doing the right thing getting rid of the Bongo! The Bongo has had its niggles but it never broke down! I wonder what the new van is? Frank EDIT: I've ...

Re: Oil leak?
Oil from the usual leak at the upper offside front of the engine and diesel leaking from the fuel pump can easily end up deposited in the area you are talking about. In worse cases it can end up eddying up onto the tailgate. Providing it doesn't drip onto the road or driveways it can offer a degree ...

Re: Aluminium radiator?
It seems that aluminium radiators are the norm nowadays, copper is but a happy memory. i fitted a pattern radiator just over a year ago from Fastrads in South Wales. Came within a day or two and was much easier to fit than I feared and I ended up wishing that I hadn't wasted so much time and effort ...

Re: Nasty experiance in Walton on Thames.
This highlights the danger of using terms like 'midday' formally and, indeed, casually. An unambiguous time would be better. At this time of year, solar noon is at 1 pm in the UK. That's my midday when I'm sunning myself! Perhaps keeping it vague helps cover stressed staff from having to open at a p...

What does 'Euro' mean? Shouldn't it be 'Uro'?

Re: Servicing your bongo in the lower mainland BC, canadians?
I want a vehicle I can travel across Canada with! Hopefully in it and not in front of it sitting in the tow truck! Sadly, I think there are going to be plenty of North American spec vans far more suitable for the job than a Bongo. You could be asking a lot from an old vehicle which needs knowing in...

Re: Window help
Assuming that the wiring is sound, the other switch should work provided that the faulty one is in the neutral position . With the switch partly dismantled, you should be able to see the sliding wafer which is actuated by the peg. If the wafer is not in the neutral (centre) position, the other switc...

Re: Servicing your bongo in the lower mainland BC, canadians?
Before I realised that there was somewhere else on the planet as attractive as British Columbia but right hand drive, my dream was to live in Vancouver and own a good sized multi-purpose van. This was because I immediately saw that there was adequate parking space almost everywhere and there was no ...

Re: Emergency Bypass leaking rear heater matrix
Whilst being glad for cmm303 that a bypass wasn't necessary, I had rather hoped that there were going to be some posts with how best to do it.
As I don't really need a rear heater, this could be a worthwhile pre-emptive project.
