Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

any chance of June coming along as well??
Doubtful at the moment. She is having physiotherapy treatment on her bad back and will not travel very far at the moment.

I trust that you and Christine are keeping well.

Re: Waeco CF 18 fridge freezer

Not a good time of the year for organizing a relay Mike. But something may be able to be done if you are thinking of attending the meet at Wanlockhead next march, I have got this meet penciled in myself. I just home that your fridge does not have to spend 6 months in my garage like the last relay it...

Lettershaw farm is 7.6 miles away from the pub. We are going to need a non drinking driver for members who stay at this campsite.

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

The area around there is owned by the Duke of Buccleuch (who lives in Drumlanrig castle) Not quite correct MUZ. The Duke does own loads of land in Southern Scotland and Drumlanrig Castle is one of his many piles. But he actually lives at Bowhill House, another of his piles just outside Selkirk, whi...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

Count me in. Just 58½ miles from us and I have done most of the route loads of times. Should have some winter wheels sorted by then and the kitchen refurbishment finally finished. Up for a walk too but Brattleburn Bothy is a wee bit far away along the Southern Uplands Way for a visit on such a short...

Re: Tan Hill Inn

Sadly I will have to give this one a miss. We have been iced up for the past week in the Scottish Borders and we have had the builders in finishing off our kitchen, so I have not got the motorhome ready for the trip. Don't really fancy doing over 100 miles of iced up twisting country roads without p...

Re: Retiring,Roaming, Rambling, Campsites: Advice needed

So they are finally kicking you out. I hope that you don't have many friends at work, my retirement bash at the Civil Service Club in London cost me a fortune. Most of the suggestions that you have received apply to England and Wales. What about coming up to Scotland on your travels Mike, the midges...

That's only a few miles away from the campsite near Alyth that we used in 2009.

Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2017

I have read that Applecross charge for dogs. That's not going to go down well with some people.

Re: Tan Hill Inn

Love to come. But now with a motorhome which has no 4WD and no winter tyres it is going to depend on the weather on the day at this time of the year.

Thanks Debs, That's me out for this year. I guess that I will have to drink more at Glencoe to make up for missing Sliverdale.

Re: Gibraltar Farm, Silverdale (Woodlands Cider Festival) 21 - 23 October 2016

Bummer I was looking forward to this one but it looks as if I will have to give it a miss now. Don't fancy getting bogged down in one of the lower fields if it is a wet weekend. Hard lines Addy, if I had come you could have slept under my motorhome. Plenty of shelter from the rain under there despit...

Re: Wild Camping and facilities in Scotland

The poor response by mainland based councils to the influx of tourists is in stark contrast to the action taken by the Western Islands council. The later appear to be ahead of the game having already installed waste disposal points and public toilets in readiness for the beginning of cheaper ferry f...

Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2017

http://www.eileanfraoich.co.uk/ looks good, mobile signal and Wi-Fi too The Western Islands is going to be a tad too expensive for some Bongo owners to get to. Having said that this is a great we campsite only about ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean so does not appear to have a midge problem. The owner...
