Good advice above, maybe look at a quote form somewhere like Bongo Spares, who will be able to supply and fit a second hand motor, the look at cost of transporting it?

Hi, and welcome aboard. This is not advice, just a personal opinion. 40 Ltr petrol tank. If we are looking at the Bongo Friendee we look at here the tanks are 65 Ltrs. Leisure batteries are indeed very different to starter batteries. That said, even leisure batteries should not be fully discharged. Rotten luck. :( It’s rare for the head gasket to just 'fail', it normally fails due to overheating, as you suggest, and it is likely the head will be cracked, too. If the local chap just replaces the gasket my guess is you won’t get very far. Have you considered getting the Bongo recovered to a Bong...
