Re: Possible Irish Bongo Bash

Don't expect to be able to make it this year as my pal wants me to go over to Amman in Jordan for a holiday with him, he has been over here with me twice in the last few years. I have always said that I would go over to Ireland one day as my dad told me that his side of the family came from County C...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

I will be coming across to Moffat on the A708. Then taking the B7076 up north if this road is in reasonable state of repair. It is a long time since I last took the old A74 (B7076) up to Glasgow. If there are not too many potholes it should be a leisurely part of the trip with little traffic on this...

Re: Allithwaite Easter Meet 13th - 17th April 2017

Brilliant news. My six months check up at the local hospital 3 miles down the road has just come in for 11.20am on Good Friday 14th April so now I am going to be a day late if I make it. Didn't think that the Specialists worked on Bank Holidays. By the way there seems to be half a dozen different Bo...

Re: Allithwaite Easter Meet 13th - 17th April 2017

I would love to be there but it is going to depend on how well June is feeling. She is in a lot of pain and will not travel. Today the hospital gave her a Tens back pain machine to try out for three weeks, if it works I will be able to leave her on her own for a few days. So if I make it then it wil...

Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2017

Giving the inn plenty of custom will be a bit difficult for me given the fact that I am a lone driver and the Scottish drink / drive limit is only half that of England should the meet be for Saturday night only as it would appear to be the plan. The Scottish way of getting around this problem these ...

Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2017

We were last in Fife in 2011 when we were at Ellie Holiday Park. Some of us did the chain walk when we where there so it was a good meeting. Last years Bash near Dunbar was a bit too close to home for me and not my type of campsite. Our meets only really work when we are able to all pitch together, ...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

I would have thought that it would be the other way round. This is Scotland remember and the drink / drive limits are lower than in England. When we have meets at Red squirrel campsite we tend to get sloshed on Friday night then stick to water or Iron Bru on the Saturday night to avoid loosing our d...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

Wots wrong with Scottish tap water. I've been using the fluoride favoured stuff from local lochs to make my tea for 15 years and it has not killed me yet.

But its Highland Spring Scottish bottled water for my whisky. None of that dreadful French stuff.

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

No need for a hook up after surviving Red Squirrel campsite meets loads of times and the occasional wild camps. The only problem is water, is there an outside tap available at or near the pub or do we have to bring our own water with us?

Re: Facebook

That's what I have done Brian. But the same requests keep coming up again and again. If it was pointed out somewhere just where they could find the information they needed it would free up Facebook for other purposes. Unlike Bongo Fury Facebook posts are not sorted out into categories, it can become...

Re: Facebook

Although It is now a few years since I upgraded to a motorhome and therefore no longer have need of the technical assistance that Bongo Fury provides. I still contribute to the Forum to keep in contact with the friends that I have made through owning a Bongo and regularly attend local meets. That sa...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

I came across this post today on the Scottish Wild Campers Facebook Page. "Park in the large car park at the top of Wanlockhead village. Short walk to the Wanlockhead Inn, where you can also camp overnight. Postcode for GPS is ML12 6UT" If this is right it would seem that if you do not nee...

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

So Brian is offering Mike a lift to the pub from the pods of about 10 yards. Has mike lost his zimmer frame ??? Is he really getting forgetful in his old age or is Brian actually offering a lift all the way from Wiggin.

Re: Highest Pub in Scotland, 11th-12th March 2017

Winter Wheels and Autosocks now arrived. Question now of beating the snow up the slope to the main road to get to the tyre place to have them fitted to my motorhome on Thursday. Then I am all set for the trip.
