My money's on the crank shaft pulley bolt has loosened itself slightly and the clatery noise is the vibrating washer between the bolt n the pulley.

Are the battery earth to ground connections clean tight and covered with a dob of grease ? with the engine running you should be seeing between 13.6 and 14.4ish volts, also check the wiring from the alternator to ensure its not damaged.

firstly is it using oil or has it been overfilled with oil, secondly other than the smoke is it starting ok, no misfire etc ?

L'oreal used to do this and it turned out to be worn seals inside the pump causing fuel to very slightly start to return to the tank, cost me £400 to have the pump removed and resealed, also worth a look is your battery condition / type if a sub standard battery is fitted then the engine is gonna be...

Well I'm Defo up for it + my wife n kids, I'm lovin the idea of driving onto the beach, that should sort the 2wds from us 4x4s :lol: hell I may even bring me kayak 8)
