Re: Ford Freda in the Land of Dreams

I notice the Bongo is facing the other way but then it's the only one with a window in the back door (and the only one with a back door come to that )

Re: Alternatives to Bongos?

Hi
I've yet to find an alternative even at a price but then I need good off road capability and a versatile rear seat set up.

Re: Coolant alarm problem

Hi plonkatronix. I read that pure antifreeze wasn’t as good at heat exchange as the mixed with water. I might be wrong but worth checking out what with 2.5’s being a bit fussy. That's correct. Race bikes use straight water due to the better heat transfer. Still they don't have to worry about corros...

Re: Hi I'm new, and I lost my keys

Re getting a spare blipper Not a definitive answer but we had a Mazda 626 of the same era (S reg) for which we got a spare blipper. We had to go to a Mazda dealer who got a code from Mazda themselves. The code only lasted 24 hours and the new fob had to be programmed within this period. Can't rememb...

We fitted these to our facelift. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HELLA-1FA-008-283-811-Spotlight/dp/B0068M97MQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_110?ie=UTF8&qid=1543014567&sr=8-110&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=car+spotlights&dpPl=1&dpID=51xdJxjQvAL&ref=plSrch However we had to make the mounting b...

Re: Miss you guys

Sometimes you don't get a wave back and feel like a right pillock, some people too cool for school ! Yep. I said to the kids (after a few non returned waves) that we'd count the number of people who waved back from the next 10 Bongo's we saw. It came out (cue drum roll)...6 out of 10 against. We th...

Re: Glow plug timer & afterglow setup ?

I'm not sure I can explain the click you hear but 8 seconds is a very short time for power to be supplied to the glow plug rail. Typically, from cold, you would be looking at 5 minutes or so. I wonder if the timer you have is somehow confusing the system that controls power to the rail. The reason p...

Re: 2 litre petrol in any other Mazda,s in Australia

Am I right in thinking the 2 litre engine was used in a fork lift truck? - sure I read that somewhere.
We once had a Mazda 626 with the 2 litre engine - great car with a great engine. Not sure of it was the same as the Bongo's though

Re: Save our local shops.....and Bongo Fury

I couldn't agee more Mike. Just as I've started to post more others are posting less - I thought it was me...maybe it is. I'm on a few forums but only post on Bongo Fury and something called Ktmtalk ( where I post loads as I know much more about Ktm's then Bongo's) Both forums are largely absent of ...

Re: Solar panel on after market pop top

I was going to do what you're suggesting but ended up simply drilling holes at quite a shallow angle through the pop top roof ( we have the standard aft) and threading the cables through the holes with plenty of Sikaflex 512 to ensure water could not get through. The wires go through a rubber gromme...

Re: Squeal when idle, not when accelerating

Squeeling when the weather is damp is almost always due to a slipping belt (that drives the alternator for example). It won't be the cam belt and can be fixed by any mechanic. However, if it's been going on for a while you may need a new belt ( not expensive) as the noise is the belt slipping which ...

Re: Spare wheel query

205 65 R15 are 0.8% smaller 215 65 R15 are 1.2% bigger 195 70 R15 are exactly the same size. I can't quite remember but even with the 4WD, Mazda supplied front tyres that were a different diameter by around 0.8% Of course the above calculations only apply to shiney new tyres. Personally I'd use the ...
