Re: Rear AC EVAPORATOR DELETE

If you have an air con leak there are a couple of other options. A good TIG welder can fix things, there are kits to replace sections of pipe (usually very pretty, anodised stuff) or what we had done to fix a pin hole leak - took it to a specialist who cut the pipe and then join it with a larger pip...

Re: 5w40 TripleQX FULL SYNTH £14.99 for 5L

I've used it in the past and not had problems (although you can never really tell what oil gets up to as it lurks around inside the engine)

Re: Rear AC EVAPORATOR DELETE

Yep - you can just blank them off, people do this usually under the passenger seat.
Mazda themselves would blank them off on Bongo's without rear air con.
I've seen pictures where the pipes are cut and then folded over 2-3 times to seal.

Re: I bought the Bongo!

Perhaps the single most important thing to do is fit a low coolant alarm. A further good purchase in terms of bang for buck are rear air lift suspension - about £110. Security is important and the aforementioned steering locks are great. The disc lock from Halford's at £50 work's well in it's mildly...

Re: Hold function on auto box not working

<t>Hold function is back.<br/> It was the connections to the hold button itself that had come off.<br/> The wire in Geoff's picture goes up to the hold button. You'll see in the picture it goes through a cable retainer which, in my case, wasn't doing its job. <br/> In any case, you remove the centre...

Hold function on auto box not working

Hi. The Bongo is a Diesel, year 2000. I noticed today that when pressing the hold knob on the auto gear lever the hold light does not come on and the hold function does not work. Everything else is fine with the auto box changing when it should. I can live without the hold function but would sooner ...

Re: Radiator

I think you were not mislead, it probably should be on a vac to assist removal of gasses etc, but mine was just to atmosphere, no catch tank, and improved the breathing and cleanliness of the inlet manifold no end . Hide it from the mot man though, they don't like poss oil drips. Cheers for the rep...

Re: Radiator

Check the crank case breather when hot, I removed mine from recirculation and vented it to an oil catch tank. Have the valve stem oil seals been done. We had this set up for a while and it helped throttle response a little too. However, and apologies for going off topic but I read the breather shou...

Re: Reasonable price to change rear springs?

We had ours changed a couple of weeks back but can't say how much as had a couple of other things done too plus the mechanic had to work around the air lift. No change noticed handling wise.

Re: Tent frame screws and fastenings...

When applying glass fibre resin to aluminium you glass paper the oxide off the aluminium and then you have about 45 minutes to put the resin on in order for it to adhere properly (or so I've read)
Guess the same is true for when you epoxy the aluminium insert's in.

Re: ceiling hatch conversion

It's a lot of work but I put a second hatch in, just like the factory one but a little shorter. You need a second bedboard with the trapdoor for this. I paid £100 delivered for one off ebay. You have to turn the central light through 90° but construction is as per how the factory did theirs and is s...

Re: Is there a legal tyre age limit ?

Manufacturers are sometimes reluctant to tell you how old there tyres are. Presumably as you'd want a new one rather than a 2 year old one for example. Tyres are marked with loads of information. I'm sure the date of manufacture could be added. I guess they'd have to add this information if the law ...
