I think the noise going round the roundabout in Chester may just have been a plastic bottle or something and not related to the boiling. Wouldn't have thought you could drive for an hour with a boiling system. Why wouldn't it regeister on the guage?? very odd !!

This is by far the most interesting and informative topic I have come across to date on this forum. I downloaded the coolant chapter from the NZ workshop manual site and what has been discussed and discovered all adds up. As far as I can see the stat is indeed located where the lower main hose enter...

Hi there, Mines was the same and it is common. Our Bongo was in Allans and when I pointed it out he confirmed this. Seems a silicone seal tends to weep. Just cleaned up the area and it takes ages to reappear. Can highly reccommend this garage. He knows his Bongos. Did EGR blanking as well.

In a Bongo just because the gauge has gone from full to a quarter does not necessarily mean you have used 3/4 of a tank. Best to refill tank to brim and use that amount as a guide to MPG. Need more info reguarding poor performance.

Had mine done at SGS for the same reason. Tell them what you want them doing for and your rack will weigh about 8kgs. £70 ish, cheaper than new ones and very cood company to deal with.

I would have thought that if you have a pinhole in a metal pipe then it must be well rotten and you need to do more than just fix this one pinhole. How about (if practicable) finding a slightly bigger bit of tube and sliding it over the damaged one having first smeared everything with plastic metal??

Should never be any fuel leaks. Would also be a way in for air.
