Re: 'O' rings on air con..?

Hi, Got exactly this problem right now on the rear unit - I kept the old o-rings and placed them nice and safe on the window sill for reference when ordering new ones - but they've dissappeared. I have pushed some blue-tac onto the pipes to get an idea of size (dont have it with me for measuring) bu...

Re: Mysterious vacuum unit

Hi, I've just fitted a 4 part system to mine - or attempted to: if you have the vacuum unit the extra "elbow" joint between the vac unit and the flexi-pipe/silencer is very hard to get right. I ordered 2 off the web and both had a badly made flange which meant it would'nt sit on the warm u...

Re: ABS sensor

Hi, I needed two new sensors for the front - at the time they were over £120 each! I got a couple of secondhand swivels/hubs from Bellhill (~£40 at the time) and they worked fine. Worth remembering though if you go down this route they wont gaurantee the abs sensors so could be a bit hit and miss - ...

Re: Back Box (AKA "The Dustbin")

Hi, I've just been changing my exhaust too - trying to get the old one off was a nightmare - however, if I had a grinder it would have been a doddle.. For future reference it IS possible to withdraw the entire exhaust as a single unit from the rear (including winter pack warmup valve!). BUT you will...

Re: Would a Petrol fit instead of Diesel?

. .of course having said that - I would still have the mounts issue I talked about at the top. I should buy an old A6 diesel AND then wait for that to expire in a non-engine related way!

Re: Would a Petrol fit instead of Diesel?

Hi, I have a 1997 Volvo V70 TDI ("classic") with the Audi 5 cyl diesel engine in addition to my Bongo. In moments of reflection I have often wondered if the Volvo diesel engine would fit in the Bongo if all hell broke loose there. One point to ponder.. ok the Volvo is using the VAG group 5...

Exhaust auxillary valve, gasket & bolts

Hi All, My exhaust is leaking from the weld on the front pipe where it bolts to the turbo. Being of limited funds at the moment I have got a suitable front section off ebay until I can replace the whole lot with a Stainless system next year. My Bongo has the winterpack and I'm a bit concerned about ...

Re: Terzo ladder attachment

Hi,

Thanks to Simon who dedicated some time in getting some detailed pictures and dimensions of his bracket to me to help me get one made up!

This underlines how great this forum is and how welcoming fellow Bongonauts are! If only all forums were as good as this one!

cheers,

Steve

Terzo ladder attachment

Hi All, I was lucky enough recently to bag a Terzo ladder on ebay recently - it didnt come with top mounts (Bongo already had those) or lower mounts. The chap I got it off rigged something up for the lower mounts with the N/S handle on the gate, but I'm not sure how much stress they will take. Does ...

Re: Weird noise when drive selected (2.5td auto 2wd)

Hi, Cheers - I only noticed the noise when I stopped to give someone a lift and they opened the front passengers door - if anything it sounds like an exhaust heat shield but definitely seemed to be coming from the gear box. Converter plates - is this a gearbox out job; fix existing box or better to ...

Weird noise when drive selected (2.5td auto 2wd)

Hi All, This morning I noticed a strange tinkling/knocking noise come from under the Bongo - At idle and in neutral or reverse there is no noise, however when I select Drive I can hear this noise at idle - I had someone keep their foot on the brake (handbrake on!) while I had a look underneath and i...

Re: Expansion tank empty after fair bit of use this week?

Hi, There's been concerns voiced in the past about the integrity of the header tanks themselves - some seem to crack along the bottom. If the tank is already empty it might be easy to actually disconnect the tank and take a look at its base. I have VERY slight trickle under there, but I also have a ...

Re: Mysterious Engine heater button thingy?

Hi, My Bongo is a winterised version but only came with one battery - turns out somebody had pinched all the goodies off my Bongo and the second battery tray and ladder had gone (Mine was an import too..). If you take off the cover over the radiator you should see the connections etc for the second ...

Re: What is it ? is it a coolant alarm ?

Hi All, I've got one of those! I bought it off ebay when I got my Bongo a couple of years ago. I have to say its been pretty reliable - never leaked, but the electrical connections were a little iffy (i.e. no actual plug supplied but had to slip a little connector over the male connectors and the fi...

Re: fitting a leisure battery

HI, I too was dubious of the cost and how much use I could justify it - but I have to say it gives great peace of mind when you're wild camping and you have the lights, radio and kids dvd thing going while you're cooking them their tea to know you can always start ok! Very usefull and very good qual...
