That's what I thought, being ok at DIY gets me by but electrics is like finding a needle in a hay stack.. oh well fortunately the van is not required any time soon

With the battery connected up as normal, the lights turn on and off as normal. It's as the battery discharges it triggers the relay to turn the lights on permanently. Tempted to buy a new relay as it seems that once voltage drops it turns the lights on which does not seem normal.

Nothing has been disconnected and no side light alarm was heard on exiting the van during day light hours when last used. I am giving the battery 24hrs on charge and will refit thereafter. Hopefully the lights and relay will return to normal, if not I will order a new relay and go from there

The alarm sound was more a noise coming from the relay. As for the battery it's a bosch bought new in March this year. If it is the battery fortunately it came with a 4 year warranty
