Re: Leaky tintop sunroof

The seal on my sunroof compresses against the metal roof of the Bongo when the roof is fully closed. The part that overlaps the roof glass is hard rubber and the sides which compress against the metal are a fairly rigid foam. There is a join at the front with a small gap, but that closes as the seal...

Re: Endorse-it in Dorset Aug 7 - 9

Wish I could fit that one in. But I am at the Welsh Eistedfordd next week, I used to be married to a Welshman that's my excuse, and with the other geriatrics at Cropready the weekend after.

The only problem with the Bongo, just too many places to go and too much to do.

Re: Leaky tintop sunroof

Not sure if this is stating the obvious or of any help. My sunroof has two closed positions. Both look closed from inside the Bongo, but only one is completely waterproof in heavy rain. The sunroof slides across and looks closed, but is still below the roof level at its back. This is waterproof at t...

Re: Round 'Thingy'! On the dashboard!

Following on fron Ron Miels post. A question from deep ignorance. #-o Do both air con systems front and back have to be run each week :?: I run the front system most weeks, but I never run the back heater or air con, as the front seems totally adequate for the whole van. Both back systems still work...

Re: Second radiator? whats is it?

Air conditioning radiator. While checking this just to make sure I solved another identification problem. I have a mysterious powered box behind the radiator grille. Suddenly realised it is a front parking sensor of the aftermarket type. Now I have to find a wall and drive really close and see if an...

Re: Mysterious screws

Very likely a CD changer fitted to the floor. These rarely surive in a functional state and leave a set of screw holes or bolts in the floor. The changer would be bolted down through the carpet, probably as oriiginal kit. Welcome to the club. Every Bongo has its own little quirks, as no two seem to ...

Re: Rod to remove spare tire

Total confusion. The plate inside the drivers door gives two numbers both odd plus a lot of Japanese. These are 195SR15 and 215/70R15 98S. Neither seem right for the Bongo. Both sound too low profile and S is too low a speed rating for a V6. I bought the tyres immediatly after I purchased the Bongo,...

Re: Rod to remove spare tire

Can you replace the space saver safely with a standard Bongo wheel if you have low profile tyres. :?: I have 17 in alloys and the tyres are KUMHO ECSTA SPT 225/45ZR17 94YXL. This is on a V6 2wd tintop. They were fitted by Micheldever Tyres the biggest tyre specialist in the south and according to th...

Re: How cold is the air conditioning?

Kelv If you have a Bongo , you obviously have a cr*p one. Mine has ice cold air conditioning, excellent brakes, good lights, high and bright and all the speed that is safe for a two ton brick. The steering is light and precise and all that stops it peforming like a saloon car is the laws of aerodyna...

Re: V6 noisy intake

Never noticed a whirring noise on my V6, but quite a few things kick in and out, especialy in these temperatures. Is this the ear trumpet like intake? Never worked out what it does. Mine worked loose, no effect on performance either disconnected or when refitted. Hayden Callow reckoned it was possib...

Re: Anyone else going to Bongo Fest South West at Looe

Must book. This was my first Bongo meet last year.

One year on I can do it with a bit more style. [-o< At least a tent I can stand up in and an electric hookup. Plus I bought an os map #-o of the area so I need to go there to use it.

Re: Cylinder head woes

What was the scenario for the head cracking? Did it overheat? Can there still be the original problem unresolved and still causing trouble despite a new head? Porous block is also a problem on land rovers and needs a pressure test to confirm. More often diagnosed than actually found. I think what th...

Re: Cylinder head woes

Is this Furze Motors in Southmpton? You don,t give a location.

If you are in that area Discount Trucks near Newbury are the experts for all Bongo problems. Might be worth getting a second opinion.

Re: cam belt

I think its 100,000km, (about 60,000 miles) or 10years. Mine was done in Japan at the 10 year point using a service sheet for 100,000km. =D> If it was done then you might have some evidence. Mine has, as well as the signed off service sheet, a sticker by the belt giving mileage and date of change pl...
