Re: Advice on treating rust
Hammerite is available as a spray and as brush-on, so may be easier. Yup. I use hammerite for this kind of light rust thing in the bonnet and engine bay areas and it works fine. I mixed smooth black with smooth green to more or less get a colour match for my 1995 dark green and I apply it by dabbin...

Re: Haydn Coolant Alarm False Alert
My Haydn Alarm can grumble at times esp once weather turns cold and damp. Luckily its never stayed on big style and like you if i do something/operate an electrical device it tends to kick it iff. I've got used to it now but at first I found it unsettling. I put new screws in a few years back and ma...

They are prone to cutting the wires and water ingress, but personal choice. Thanks for the info, what would you recommend ? Hi Rita. I found soldering has worked well for me, but I know you are very savvy on car mechanics and I'd love to hear of other suggestions that would be easy to do and not gi...

Bobs right about Scotchloks, whoever fitted the towbar to mine (a garage i think), i started to get o/s tail light bulb blowing. Not problem since i removed all scotchloks and...

Re: My 1st Post: Free Television Equipment
Welcome aboard. I have a 95 diesel and it does WhatICanAfford MPG,which, over the 14 years i've had the Bongo, i've gotten quite used to. The mpg has been outstanding since March 2020 and the tyre treads seem to last forever too

Re: Headlamps and what to do!
Even when headlight covers were in v good condition i found Bongo headlights underwhelming. The solution for me was a pair of spotlights, set dipped and slightly to one side and wired to operate with main beam. Been great since. Ben - due to cost cutting theres only 2 elves these days. Bring back th...

Re: Southern Softies, Wallingford, 23 to 26 April
Some pictures from the site yesterday (Friday) getting a bit wild and woolly as forecast this afternoon! The Red Kites nest in the area and had been attracted by some bacon rind that had been put for them! http://www.g8dhe.net/pictures/2020/10/20201023/index.php?ind=15 Loved the red kite pics Geoff...

Re: water in passenger footwell
I found rust throughs on both sides behind front wheel arch liners. Even my Bongo specialist hadnt seen those before. Theyve all been repaired beautifully but a thorough inspection there may be an idea as i think ultimately it could lead to damp carpets

Re: Rear Slide Out Kitchen Pod
Northern Bongolow (Ady) did a DIY one so may also have some thoughts / advice. Agree its a great design idea that could be pushed further. I was interested in the idea when i got mine 14 yrs ago but lacked funds to do it.

Re: Do you use your bongo as your main vehicle?
My only vehicle, its the size of most cars, good turning circle, so why not, no car is going to give good mileage on short runs anyway. 2nd that. Its been my only car since 2006 and daily commute until I retired in 2017. The only downside is taking it a distance to be looked after and some years, h...

Re: Virus Malware Be aware
Disturbing news. I am with 2gether and have been for many years. I have also, for many years, been receiving highly unwelcome calls on my mobile (a number i never knowingly agree to be given out and used). Its always a girl with an Essex'y accent who starts with "Hello. We've been told you was ...

Re: John Sheldrick (Francophile1947) RIP
Just read this and was shocked and saddened. He was one of the giants of the Bongo world when I started on here many years back and I had many great banters with him. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP John.
