Re: Droplinks where am I going wrong?

I was told by a Bongo fan ages ago that the main cause of premature drop link failure was too high tyre pressure especially on the front. I know that some have their tyres at high pressure for fuel economy but perhaps this has some bearing on it. I doubt it very much that the tyre pressure would af...

Re: A transmission fault code that's not on the list...

Only just seen the latest posts as forum software didnt flag them up as new. Sounds encouragingly like it may just be TPS related. Hopefully (esp with Geoff on hand to direct you to data) the problem will get tracked down and sorted. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Fresh import - first tasks, rust proofing (in 2021...)

Welcome. Roof should be raised with engine running and, for best oomph, revs raised a bit so alternator gets best voltage to motors. Enjoy the new motor. They're fun. Spent several dsys valeting mine when i bought it and it responded well to treatment. I wonder if its starting as well as it should -...

Re: Clean Air Zone in Bath

That's my approach to these taxes. I Don't go there. Indeed Ben.Even before Covid I only did about 5k miles a year and very little in cities. You'd think a 'rationing' tax might make for an interesting variation that would still reduce the pollution problem but without turning newcomers and ...

Out of interest, is the Bongo driving normally, gears changing ok. What does the HOLD light do if you press it while driving (and do engine revs change etc).

Re: Bit of steam, top of radiator

My radiator went like that when the Bongo was about about 18 yrs old. They are known to give out with age, where the plastic meets the metal. A new radiator should sort it all and of course make sure the garage bleeds using proper Bongo method.

Re: CENTRAL LOCKING FAULT

When mine played up, I bought a new drivers side loom, and had it fitted, at great expense. The problem persisted. It turned out to be a faulty relay unit up behind the the glovebox. Got one 2nd hand from Bongospares, 5 mins to fit, and the problem vanished. #-o  P.S. No regrets though, its *ni...

Re: Trolley jacks for the bongo

I’d go for the heavy duty three ton trolley jack. For the low profile ground hugging cars I have been stupid enough to buy, I used to drive the wheel onto a block of wood. That gave me sufficient clearance to get a proper trolley jack under it and then get serious with axle stands. I also put wheel...

Re: The Rust Directory

No rear heater or troublesome extra pipe work just extra storage once I’ve lined it out Not a bad plan. Interesting thought occurs that the space vacated by the rear heater unit might even house a diesel heater, maybe even retaining the ducting and outlet controls? Or would they not be up to the he...

Re: Bristol Bob - fame at last

Interesting stuff, Bill. Can't remember when Bristol Bob first surfaced, but it was a good while ago. I know what I'd do to scum like that. I did try and search last night and think i started to see references around 2012. I'm beginning to feeling its the ones who should be protecting us ...

Bristol Bob - fame at last

The other night my partner brought this to my attention. https://thebristolcable.org/2021/03/mazda-bongo-the-bristolians-ripped-off-by-second-hand-camper-van-seller/ Her ex husband had sent it to her. He has nothing whatsoever to do with Bongos but spotted it on his news streams. I'm trying to think...
