Er um - the last time I worked on car brakes they were drum brakes. I've never worked on disc brakes at all but I gather they are easier. My quick questions are: 1) How can you check to see if your disc pads are worn / what the state of them is 2) Is it a simple DIY job to change them yourself? Grat...

Maybe you need to connect with the other thread currently running on the Forum about sticking doors. I've just commented on the other thread that I feel I've read a Forum thread on this problem and that it offered some help (however my memory is faulty these days so...). Have you searched?

Good advice & thanks. I'll note your point about black oil Colin. Still like the idea of quality oil allowing me to be 'more flexible' on service intervals - waddya think on that Colin?

Thanks TimNZ - I find myself inclined to your view. As a busy working dad, I might slip a little on oil change intervals. If this happens, the expensive oil justifies its cost if it stays effective for longer and recovers (some of) its cost because I'm changing oil at wider intervals. I would have t...

Thanks moonshine - a most reassuring answer (as ever). I've already ordered a battery tray off ebay made designed by a Bongo owner who wanted to fit the largest leisure battery possible. So Stage 1 has commenced. See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220061546667&sspagenam...

Sounds clever Yamaha. I've a lot to learn yet before tacking all that. I've ordered from ebay one of those battery carriers for extra large batteries. I can fit that OK! I might as well get the battery. I can fit that OK and charge it at home for now. Then I'll make a cup of tea and start reading up...

Thaks for the info you guys. I have considered the 220061546667 one one ebay Yamaha and have had an email dialogue with him. Think I'll buy one. If you arent using your Zig unit etc Yamaha, how did you wire up your leisure battery so that it could be charged and so that power could be drawn from it....

Thanks Pippin - it helps a lot. Reading between the lines, there is no reason why I shouldnt feel confident to have a go provided I research the trhreads, factsheets etc along the lines you suggest. I presume interior lights and cigarette lighter etc would come on the list of things to move over to ...

Leisure Battery - whats the most powerful I can fit and why?

Hello chums I'm going to fit a leisure battery to Mango and could use some advice: - I've read the factsheet about leisure batteries and it says you cant fit one more powerful than the starter battery. My starter battery is 95AmpHr but I want to fit a leisure battery of at least 110AmpHr and more if...

Here's a question. I have a 1995 Bongo with 67k miles on the clock and and I assume it has EGR. So I disable it (but in such a way that I can connect it before its MOT so it can pass its emissions test). All fine so far. BUT I already have a load of sludge in the pipes. Will the existing sludge slow...

I expect 2 x black eyes when the missus catches me doing it and hits me over the head with a frying pan!

Seriously though, fantastic - thanks for that tip!!
