Re: Coolant looking a bit low
Our header dropped a little bit for a few days, before the rad went pop. We hadn't had the van long, so were unaware of just how 'tricky' the cooling system is (no coolant alarm either at this point - got one now)! It had sprung a leak that went unnoticed, then blew big style at the top tank joint o...

Re: PhotoBucket to charge $399 a year
Photobucket appear to have broken the internet. So many useful resources are now without images due to this.
Ok, they need to make money, but $400 a year!

Re: Fumes in main cabin
Our V6 had a nasty stench whenever the heating was on. We were a bit confoozled for a while, as the heating air inlet is right at the front of the van, so discounted things like oil fumes as they would naturally have been drawn towards the other end when the van was moving. Turned out to be a big oi...

Re: Lifesure breakdown vs RAC
I can't fault Greenflag for recovering our van 4 times over the last year. That's 4 call-outs for a chap in a transit to go 'I can't fix that', then 4 flat-bed trucks to recover the Beastly Bus to a garage. We have the personal cover option that covers my wife and I in any vehicle and pay about £12 ...

Re: V6 98 - Second hand or aftermarket Radiator
thanks for this reply, this is exactly why we made the videos, this method was developed from the knowledge of 3 very good people who had years of bongo experience between them. The vids should be on any Bongo owners 'must see' list, blown rad or not! It's clear from watching that you know your stu...

Understood, and thanksBongolia wrote:All the checks are generic so you can do the same on yours. The positioning of sensors etc would be different however. Would be less confusing if you could post another like V6 idle and stall and the chaps could pick it up from there.

Re: Flashlube and the V6
We bought a V6 with LPG but no Flashlube. The LPG ECU went pop after we had to jump start the van one day. The LPG place that repaired the system fitted a flashlube and I agree it's better off having it and not needing it than the other way round. Mr LPG warned us against jump starting the van or us...

Re: 2.0 petrol stalling when idling or braking
I'm subbed to this thread as our V6 is doing this too.
Fine while the throttle is open but idle is unstable and the engine hunts to the point of stalling.

Re: V6 98 - Second hand or aftermarket Radiator
I successfully bled our V6 after the rad blew its top. Rad was replaced with the aftermarket item from AVA Leisure at just over £100 delivered. Excellent quality I thought, and very quick delivery. I watched the famous bleeding videos (all 3 of them) over and over to get the method in my head then, ...

Re: Brakes on all disk vehicle (only did front disks and pads)
Perhaps a clearer request would have worked. With respect, it looks like you may be making mountains from mole-hills. The age and value of the car is neither here nor there really, the job is what it is. And as for the price; I was quoted over £400 to replace front discs and pads, and rear pads on m...

Re: Newbie - so many questions
We are South East too, and went round the dealers in Southampton - ended up buying privately as we couldn't stretch to dealer money for what we wanted. Whether that has proven to be a false economy is neither here nor there, but they had a good selection of vans and certainly talked a good talk. I w...

Re: Newbie - so many questions
Thank you and yes I think you are right. We have been out today again looking and have decided that if the V6 is still available on Monday morning, we will put a holding deposit on it as it is refundable if we don't like it when it arrives. I think also,we have decided just to put a back conversion...

Re: Engine Warning Light 2002 2.0l
That's the same as my code reader. I've not had cause to use it on our 2001 van yet, but it's handy to know it'll probably do the business. It has worked well on lots of other cars and more than earnt it's keep. I was advised, before I bought my Autel unit, to avoid the many fake devices and buy a g...
