Re: jump starting..

I tried to use a connection to the engine for the negative but it did not work. I stick to connecting the terminals, battery to battery.

Hi Guys,

It was good to meet you on Saturday night - thanks Scanner for organising the get-together & food!

I attach a photo showing the bright blue skies ...

Re: Waeco MS 50

Just be aware, Bob, that the current vacuum nipple has a rubber cap on - if you use pliers to remove it, only grab hold of the tip other wise you will not get very far. It makes sense when you do it.

Re: Spare wheel 195 or 215?

I can't advise on wheel sizes, but I have been using UltraSeal for the last 4 or 5 years - it seals most punctures immediately so that there is little loss of air, if any and one can drive on as normal - you wouldn't notice that there had been a puncture and don't have to change wheels etc. The only...

Battery Prices - warning - they are going up and up

I was warned today that the cost of batteries is likely to go up regularly as the price of lead increases. I use a local supplier and they have increased their prices 5 times in the last few months in line with the whole sale prices they are charged. If you are thinking of getting a new battery - no...

We have a small removable kitchen unit with cupboards - we can disquise it but not hide altogether. We reserve on line but have to phone and speak to a human when using our Tesco vouchers - they stated that we were the second bongo to book yesterday and that the first one had been regarded as a camp...

Charged as a campervan on EuroTunnel

We were charged an extra £18 when we booked our rtn. tickets for the Eurotunnel today - because Bongos are now classed as campervans; we have sleeping facilities and a cooker  We used our Tesco vouchers for the crossing and it usually works out to be relatively cheap but will be looking at oth...

Following a similar thread 18 months ago, I found the offending wire & added a simple switch so I can turn the beep option on or off without having to open a door & scaring the neigbours.

I like the idea of remote locking so that is on my list. I will ask Lifesure about the alarm and see if it gives a discount, although as we live in a low crime area (touch wood), it might not make much of a difference to the premiums. I will also ask about remote starting - it would be quite conveni...

Thanks for your reply; I'll have a look at them.

I've also seen alarms recently that come as part of package that includes remote starting - if they do not invalidate my insurance, they appear to be quite useful.

How long should it take for the aircon to pump out hot air? I have mine set to max when driving to the 2 miles to work and it doesn't get particularly hot in that time whereas the cold setting gets cool very quickly.

Alarms - which one do you recommend?

Can you recommend an approved alarm system with remote central locking? I have been looking at the Waeco Magic Safe MS650 for around £110 - having been impressed with Waeco's cruise control. However, it appears to be twice the price of CAT alarms and I cannot tell if it is approved for insurance, n...
