Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Right, test done. When the aircon cut out there was still voltage at the connector to the compressor, so looks like faulty clutch solenoid. Do you know if these are serviceable (have found the diagram on Lush Projects), or am I best to get a new compressor? Thanks.

Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Found the relay. Just need to wait for the weather to improve then I'll do the testing. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Thanks Geoff, I'd just like to check my understanding. When the air con has stopped cooling: 1. Check the voltage on the connector at the compressor - if that's ok then the fault is likely to be the clutch solenoid 2. If not ok then earth Y/W wire at the relay. If the relay operates then the fault i...

Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Will do this also. Regarding the clutch I tested it from cold yesterday. When switching the air con on and off you can hear a click from the compressor which I assume is the clutch engaging and disengaging. However once the engine was hot and the air con had stopped working then the click also stopp...

Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out the clutch. I wasn't told how much gas was is the system, just that it wasn't a problem. I'll go back to the garage and see if they have a record of it.

Air con cuts out in very hot weather

Hi all, I’m having some intermittent air con problems and would appreciate some advice. Got a 2000 diesel face lift Bongo with climate control, located in St Albans. Under normal conditions the air con works fine, but when it gets hot outside, like now, the problem appears. It works fine when you fi...

Cabin light fittings - can you swap the U shape bulb fitting for the straight bulb one?

Hi, I've got a Bongo with a cabin light fitting that takes the U shape fluorescent bulbs. The bulb has gone, and rather than trying to get an expensive replacement or convert to LED, I wondered if I could swap the whole fitting for the older one which takes off the shelf bulbs? Looking at photos of ...

Re: Switch Radio Between LB and SB

Hi, I'm looking to do the same thing and came across this thread. Did you draw that diagram in the end? If so would you mind posting it? I think I understand it but want to be sure! Also I'd ideally like to put the switch in one of the slots just below the instrument cluster that currently has a bla...

Re: replacement window glass & car alarm recomendations

Thanks for all the info.

Mine is a 2000 facelift Bongo. Do you think the glass from a 96 model will fit?

replacement window glass & car alarm recomendations

Hi all, Unfortunately my Bongo got broken into whilst I was on holiday in France. To gain access they smashed the drivers door window (the small triangular part) which I now need to get repaired. The insurance company's nominated repairer is quoting up to 8 weeks to get the glass from a Mazda main d...

Is a Mazda 323 front foglight the same as a new shape Bongo?

Hi all, have smashed the lens on the passenger side front foglight of my new shape 2000 Bongo. They are a different shape to the older Bongos and am having trouble tracking one down. However there are some Mazda 323 ones on eBay that look to be the same shape, like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/it...

Stopover pitch on the way to the Cairngorms

Hi all, am travelling up to the Cairngorms tomorrow and will need an overnight stopover somewhere off the A1 just north of the border. Any recommendations would be very welcome - either "proper" site or wild. Thanks
