Re: Well done NHS

Not only NHS staff who have gone above & beyond the call of duty, also those with Landys & other capable 4x4's who have offered themselves, vehicles & fuel bills in service to the community, not to mention farmers etc who have been fantastic at clearing roads. Now that it is melting, no ...

Re: Recall Check

Hi,

Not sure it pays to trust the Gov website too much. According to them my GT6 failed an MOT through rust. Interestingly, at the time the car was on SORN and on blocks in a locked garage and I was working in China.

Re: Maintenance routine

Hi,

Some cracking info there from BB123, one thing I would like to add:

Assuming your Bongo has an AFT, keep the eyebrow vent (top front of the canvas) open permanantly and keep the small roof hatch open. This will disperse any condensation in the AFT and helps to keep mould at bay.

Re: Recommended roll out awning?

Geoff - I was one of the people who flagged up a possible connection between the type of awning brackets that put weight on the gutter and corrosion from the inside on the rear n/s roof. What I think might be happening is this: You have commented on the poor mastic on the joint, the mastic on the av...

Re: What a shocking waste!!

It's just another example of marketing & sales executives trying to scam us and you have to admit it hasn't taken much talking on their part for politicians to see the advantage. Personally I think I am doing the planet a favour by not contributing to the pollution created during the manufacture...

Re: Its Been A Bad Week (& its only Tuesday)

Thank you for your kind thoughts gentlemen. Whats left of the Astra is going to the scrappy tomorrow morning. What we have been offered for it will probably just about cover the cost of a new SB for Bongy. Bosch 335 isn't it? Mike - bad luck on the central heating. Ours died last winter, but being c...

Its Been A Bad Week (& its only Tuesday)

It all started on Sunday. 'Er in drawers took our Astra to Sainsburys to buy some spuds and when she came out the Astra bumper was on the ground in front of it. The front N/S wing is crunched and the N/S front wheel had been pushed backwards. When the bumper came off it caught the rad and the bottom...

Re: Punctures, bald tyres and UK road deaths up 4pct

Hi Teenmal, A very good point. I was really thinking of the older vehicles, which did come fitted with one. As an aside, the lady who lives next door to us is not badly off - she is a solicitor - and she runs a brand new Range Rover Evoque. A couple of weeks ago I commented that it came fitted with ...

Re: Punctures, bald tyres and UK road deaths up 4pct

Hi, I think one cause is probably the fact that pressure checks are not done as often as they used to be. When I was in my early driving years I learned that there are things that needed to be done frequently - lights, fluids, wipers, tyres etc. Few seem to bother as much these days and a tyre not e...

Re: RAC and the diesel debate

Hi, So the RAC in their wisdom advise avoiding these areas, which makes me ask a rather obvious question - who is the bigger planet killer, the one who drives a few miles through an LEZ or the one who does 3 times the mileage avoiding it bearing in mind that every other driver is also avoiding it so...

Re: Tom Petty has left the building

Mike - Temples in Flames tour at Wembley. Went to see Dylan really & was very disappointed. Tom & HB did some of did some of his own stuff & some Dylan, complete with hat & Rickenbacker & was really enjoying himself, but the real star of the show was McGuinn on 12 string accousti...

One of the greats of rock. I saw him live in '87 with Dylan & Roger Mcguinn, it was an unforgettable night and I've even still got the t-shirt
