Auto Roof Closing Problems

Hi All We've been having problems with closing the auto roof on the bongo of late, particularly when it's been up for a while. When it comes to pressing the button for closing, the beeping starts but nothing happens when you press and hold the button to actually close it. No motor noise, no sound (e...

Re: How much for a full respray & rear wheel arch replacement?

Wheel arches replaced and bongo resprayed down both sides from windows down. Very happy with work. Took a while to get it in and done but worth the wait. Cost £1000. Have had the underside waxoiled too to protect it as it turns out it's never been done. Fortunately she's absolutely solid underneath ...

Re: How much for a full respray & rear wheel arch replacemen

We've had a look around and there's a bloke who has his own business spraying & welding and he's just around the corner from us. Turns out he's done quite a few Bongos (currently got one in now for the same job) and he's quoted us approx £1000 to do it. He filled us with far more confidence than...

Re: How much for a full respray & rear wheel arch replacemen

Before investing in a conversion I'd make absolutely sure the base vehicle was sound. If the wheel arches are that rusty, there may be rust elsewhere that needs attention also. I'd get it thoroughly inspected by a good Bongo Garage. Ian Taylor in Stoke, Wheelquick in Wigan, and Kloonsy/Dave in Barn...

How much for a full respray & rear wheel arch replacement?

Ok, so we're thinking along the lines of smartening the little lady up a little with a lovely new interior conversion which will be lovely! But she's looking a little worn on the outside now and we've been advised the rear wheel arches need replacing as the rust has got too much. We've had prices fo...

Re: Roof Mattress

It will be considered but I've done all this before. Lying around on a mattress for a short while in the shop isn't quite the same as lying on it all night. I usually find the discomfort kicks in after 2-3 hours. It's not the quality of the mattress thats a problem, it's the quality of my joints! Mo...

Re: Roof Mattress

Thanks for suggestions so far. We will certainly consider all options. The vango 10 sounds like a possibility. The thermarest? Maybe a birthday/christmas pressie if I'm well behaved! I do wish you could try before you buy. It would save no end of grief. I'm reluctant to spend a lot of money on somet...

Re: Roof Mattress

The thicker foam I can fit in, memory or otherwise, the better for me. Just can't lie comfortably on hard surfaces anymore. The bones protest too much. Have considered an air pump with airbed but it's still a lot of messing around, particularly when it's chilly out as the roof space is very cold in ...

Re: Roof Mattress

We can just squeeze this lot in; http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/DSCF0896.thn.jpg That's the hatch (pins removed to slide), two layes of 3" foam and folded front silver screen but thaat's the limit, you need to keep the front clear as maximum leverage is at the rear to squash things ;-) Wow!...

Roof Mattress

Hi all We have been having a think about our beloved Bongo and that dreaded question has arisen...... Do we sell or do we keep? After much thought we have both decided that we like it and want to keep it. It's comfortable, a pleasure to drive, and it's as big as we dare go as we use it as a second v...

Hey, welcome to our world. Ours too does the exact same thing for no apparent reason! Still getting problem looked into but if you find out what's causing your problem, please do let me know! The frustration of it all is driving us nuts!

So what size glow plug do I use?

Ok, here's my dilemma: I'm about to service our Bongo and I need the parts. The question is which size glow plugs do I buy? According to the Bongo Fury shop I have a choice between 83mm and 102mm glow plugs. As I have a couple of spare ones in the boot box, that came with the bongo when we bought i...

Re: Stalling when coming to a stop using the brakes?

Well, she's back with us and Oh My Goodness! What a difference! I cannot believe how much quieter and smoothly she runs! There's a hell of a difference! We can actually hold a fairly quiet conversation and hear what's being said! I didn't realise just how noisy she was getting! Water pump was the o...
