Re: Flat battery for newbie
Starter battery appears okay but I'd have expected the voltage to be 14+ volts when charging. Have you checked that the ground/earth contact to the side of the van for any rust/corrosion? It doesn't take much to cause poor contact that can prevent starting but will still light up the dash. Leisure b...

Re: Flat battery for newbie
When you say you came to start it and there was insufficient charge do you mean insufficient charge to start the engine or insufficient charge to power devices conected to the leisure battey? If it won't start then the issue should be with the starter battery as the leisure battery should be isolate...

Re: Gobsmacked cannot jack Bongo to change to spare wheel..
I've a bottle jack (rated 4 tonne) I keep in the van at all times as it takes little space. I used to carry a trolley jack but it took up a lot of space so it stays at home for home use along with the axle stands. Occassionally it can be a struggle to get a wheel on due to the clearance from the gro...

Re: Removal of internal panel
It's a few years since I've toyed with mine but from memory, the internal lower panels are held on with spring clips so starting with the rear-most panels a swift yank should release them. The window height panels are also held on with spring clips but require the removal of the upper seat belt bolt...

Re: Willinton kit relay issue
Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear it sounds routine for these to fail after a number of years as I'd thought the van was conspiring against me with its various little electrical faults but most of them appear to be down to this little box of tricks not working properly. I've decided to go with ...

Willinton kit relay issue
Hello all. I've had a Willinton split charge relay kit fitted for 5~6 years and have come to the conclusion the relay has started causing a few issues, the main one being the contacts appear to remain closed with the ignition switched off as when I turn the ignition current is being drawn from the L...

Re: Transfering Data from Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 on new
When you plug in the memory stick into the new pc does a black box appear in the bottom right asking you what action to take with this device? If it does then click on the box and it gives you options including opening the folders on the memory stick. Simiarly with your phone, if you connect by usb ...

Re: Double Din Radio with satnav
Yeah, Engadget had published first rumours of this last week and it was doing the rounds on developer forums. Not to worry, time to get out the tape measure and see what other tablets might fit over the cubby hole. Mike, I only ever used the free version of OSM+ which has improved since I last used ...

Re: Double Din Radio with satnav
Hi Mike. On my trip to Belgium last November I found on the continent OSM+ continued to think I was driving on the left which was problematic at roundabouts, on motorways and when turning but it kept me on my toes. I had a license for Copilot but I'd had it installed on my phone so I transferred it ...

Hi Helen Here's an old thread of mine about using a tablet with a 1 din stereo with bluetooth; http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=68006 I've been using it for a year now and has been faultless on my travels around Europe. Once paired it gives the additional advantage of bein...

Re: front windowscreen pump replacment
If you don't have a leisure battery it's easy, if you have a leisure battery (like what I got) it takes a little longer. Lift the bonnet and you should see that the washer bottle is held on with some bolts (can't remember if it's two or three). Undo the bolts and the bottle will be loose, disconnect...

Re: when is a campervan a campervan for insurance purposes
Here's an article detailing what's required by VOSA to be able to redefine/reclassify an 8 seater as a campervan
http://www.campervanlife.com/building/legal
As Mike says, have a look at your V5 and it should detail motor classification and number of seats.

Re: Mpg on Lpg
When driving at night I tend to mix it with lorries and my trip to Belgium in November achieved close to 28mpg on LPG but on my last trip back from the continent my right foot got the better of me and I averaged something around 22mpg.

Re: Bongo travelling in Europe and headlighst etc
Hi and welcome. If you've got plastic lenses in your lights I wouldn't suggest black tape and having seen some bloke resort to scraping and scouring silver duct tape of his lights I'm loathed to suggest that either. A set of Eurolite deflectors aren't that expensive and if you're careful removing th...
