Importing a UK registered Bongo to Switzerland?

Hi guys Does anyone have experience importing a RHD UK registered Bongo into Switzerland? I had a Bongo for 3 years and imported it to Ireland but I sold it last year after moving here. Now I miss it and want to buy another one... but I'm concerned as to whether I would be able to import here to Swi...

Same tyre size on all wheels?

Hi all I have a 2WD 2.5 Diesel Automatic Bongo. I posted here last year about tyres and followed the advice to buy 215/65 for my rear tyres and keep the 195/70s on front. The front tyres are now needing replaced. So should I get another 2 of the same 215/65 R15 100H for the front? Someone said I sho...

Servicing and roof not fully extending

Hi all Some questions for you so hope you can help. I have a 1997 2WD Automatic 2.5 Diesel Bongo. I am heading away on 4000km road trip in June so want to get full service done. I had full service done last September where I replaced thermostat, glow plugs and got the coolant system fully bled and f...

Re: Exhaust has fallen half off

I suppose I plan on keeping the Bongo for next 3-5 years at least.

Is that link you posted a Mild Steel or Stainless Steel one? £43 is a massive difference to £160 on here. Are other parts way cheaper on ebay too (if I need them in future), i thought the discounted shop on here was good value??

Re: Exhaust has fallen half off

Thanks for quick responses guys. i have taken it off and you were right, it is really heavy! I can get a new exhaust pack (centre and rear) for £174 including postage to Ireland from here. Is that the right way to go or will it be one of those big heavy ones then? Im bringing it to an exhaust centre...

Exhaust has fallen half off

Hi guys Driving home last night and suddenly exhaust sounded way noisier. I got it home but on inspection this is what I found: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/8743/img1919q.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/4668/img1921dw.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/3917/img1922py.jpg Now obviously I...

Re: Battery issues

Hi guys

Im living in Ireland so don't think I can get that Lidl charger here but I will try and get my hands on one. As for glow plugs I will try and get it checked.

Thanks guys. Any ideas on this issue of the radio running the battery down? How could I check this out?

Re: Battery issues

Ok thanks guys, if I just drive the van for an hour or so will that give it a long enough charge? How do I give it a "slow charge", do I need special equipment for this? I'll just have to try jumping it in morning. What do I do about the radio if that is the issue, will this not just keep ...

Battery issues

Hi guys I got my van fully serviced not long ago, had the cooling system fully bled and replaced, replaced all the glow plugs and other bits and pieces. At the time I had trouble with the alternator but mechanic didn't think it needed replacing, he just cleaned all round it and it seemed to working ...

Re: Don't know what to do with rust on wheel arches.

So it seems really if you are getting them replaced it has to be merc sprinter ones or the transit mk6 ones. I'm holding off on this for a while yet I think but hopefully doing it next year.

Re: Don't know what to do with rust on wheel arches.

You need a pair of 2006 LWB Transit arches which cost around £75+vat per pair, available from Hadrian up north who are contactable on 01373 865684<span class="skype_pnh_container" dir="ltr" tabindex="-1&quo...

Re: Don't know what to do with rust on wheel arches.

Hi guys,

Have been on to a member here about using plastic spats. Anyone used these before can offer advice on them? Will it not just trap water and make rust even worse??

Re: Don't know what to do with rust on wheel arches.

Hi guys Thanks for the updates. So, really what options do I have and how much? My take on it is: 1. I leave current wheel arches as they are and try and get it all repaired and treated... no idea how much this will be though?? 2. Buy new wheel arches, cut out the old ones and weld on the new ones.....

Don't know what to do with rust on wheel arches.

First of all I want to apologise for asking a question I am sure has been answered. I have been searching for a while but it all gets too techie for me very quickly. To sum up: Bought a Bongo in May 2011, it had some minor rust spots on arches when I bought it as did most other ones I looked at. I t...
