Re: Flip down TV
Ok , in layman terms here it is: Your car's original battery, 12Volts, normally powers the whole car, ciggie sockets, lights and all. When you have a leisure battery installed, it is normal, and common sense, to rewire your car's "camping oriented" electrics - i,.e. ciggie sockets, lights,...

Re: Flip down TV
Hi Julie - 1st things 1st - Don't buy that combo! It's 4:3 / square / old fashioned. You need a widescreen one - 16:9 (as all Freeview channels, and all DVDs, are Widescreen). Otherwise you'll see a tiny picture with huge black bars above and below. Depending if the DVD bit is important to you or no...

Re: Fitting a car alarm - Help Needed Please
Thankyou , thankyou. You just saved me hours of searching for the correct cables! easiest way i've found for the door swtches is.. 1.remove the tailgate light and pull out the loom a bit, find the turquoisey-green wire with red stripe. 2.pull out the lower trim (where the rear 12v socket is) and loc...

Wheels larger than 15" - rougher ride?
I have bog standard steel wheels and am looking at cheapo alloys. I'm looking at 15" alloys as I like how soft the ride is (my other car, is indeed a Porsche , so the soft ride is a nice change :-) ). If I end up getting 16" from ebay am I likely to suffer quite a change in the ride? (well...

Re: Leisure batteries and charging
Hmm - I know about the Willington kit bypassing fuse 1 (I have it), btu as far as the fuse board PDF goes (from here), Fuse 1 is cabin lights, and central locking is on fuse 16 of the bonnet fuse board?

Re: Leisure batteries and charging
Charging the leisure battery is done in two ways Either you have a cable linking the two batteries positive wires, so the alternator charges both. The link cable goes via a relay so that the link is disconnected when the van is not running (to stop you draining the starter battery when parked up and...

Re: Battery charging
Ive been using pc power supplies for charging rc heli batteries for years. As mentioned above, all you have to do is connect the , usually green, power detect lead to ground, and then put a resistor accross the 5v rail to increase amperage ( not totally nesc but it ups the amperage normally) This wa...

Re: Battery charging
That should work well. I use one half the size for a sports car I have that would otherwise die after 10 days of being parked up. One thing to watch is the cigar plugs are very low quality and can often read zero volts unless fiddled with. My mate had a huge panel on his Bongo dash and when I metere...

Re: Powering the TV
That post over on another forum about the guy plugging in a 12v TV and it going "plink" because his battery was at 13v is very suspicious. MUCH more likely he got the polarity the wrong way round. Most devices like 12V TVs have their own build in regulators. Even if they don't , the differ...

Re: vitrifrigo C42L
When you check your battery voltage, make sure it is at the time when the fridge actually fires up and makes some nose. I've recently sorted my mate's bongo electrics and his fridge would do the same. The battery metered at around 12.6v, but once the fridge came on , it would plummet over a handfull...

Re: Roof Bar Template
The mounting holes are m8 in size and are 1.2 meters apart lengthways and 1.1 m apart width ways.
I'll link a google sketch up later that I made for installing a solar panel using the mo ting holes at the rear, though the measurements above are all you need.

Re: Vitrifrigo C39i (or similar) thermostat question
Thanks - appreciate the info. was baffling me the A1 and A2 :-) Never heard the compressor, but as you say, if it's working then it must be working, so to speak :-) btw - I've made the assumption its a 39i based on pictures on the web. I know for a fact it has a Danfoss comprossor. One of the things...

Vitrifrigo C39i (or similar) thermostat question
Hi - I'm helping a friend get his Bongo sorted and it has a Vitrifrigo c39i (from what I can tell by comparing photos on the web) with a Danfoss compressor. (It's got the bulge inside under the freezer bit so I assume the compressor is internal) What I was wondering ... a) The internal thermostat di...
