Re: Roof issue
If it keeps whirring then something is slipping. Either a motor, or its worm drive. Mine doesn't stop beeping but it stops whirring. It can't quite reach the point where the microswitch is hit and the beeping stops. Doesn't make any odds though , and means it can come down without having to press t...

Re: Fridge
Some things that are certain with compressor fridge: 1) they are the most efficient fridge you can get. 2) they usually have low voltage protection. When they try and spin up the pump they check the voltage and if its too low they quit and try again in a minute or less. When they spin up they draw a...

Re: no charge and sediment light on dash
My alternator failed. Here are the symptoms and also when I realised I had a problem. 1) noticed that my split charge relay was clicking a lot and assumed it was a bad earth to the relay. Ignored it as the clicking stopped when I wiggled the relay for a while (the battery level had climbed enough to...

Re: Battery capacity and Fridges
A new 75ah battery will run a compressor fridge on a little below its mid setting for 2 days. I tired 75ah battery won't make it through a day. I know it was for testing but avoid running the fridge on full. It consumes a LOT more power. I'm in a hot climate right now where it is over 37 outside and...

Re: chuffing AND ticking :-)
Loud Ticking / knocking gone. Took off both wheels to inspect. After that the ticking went. One wheel nut was not as tight as I'd have liked so it may have been that. Brakes are scraping and chuffing as usual. Will renew disks and pads when I get back.

Re: Coolant loss overheating mystery
Agree. No topping up at all should be needed. Mine consumed coolant slowly. About 2 litres a month. Also had rough starting. Pressure test shows nothing and garage suggested it must be a porous head. I used kseal ultimate and now I don't lose a drop of coolant and no more rough starting. Interestin...

chuffing AND ticking :-)
Thought I'd Chuck my noise issues in here too ! :-) During my 1000 odd mile french trip last year my (seemingly) right front side started "chuffing" not too loud by clearly most of the time. Sounded to me like something rubbing as the wheels rotate. Changes frequency directly with road spe...

Re: Zig cf9 control panel
Leave the "car" mode well alone. No need to use it with a camper. You'll just invite the problem of a flat starter(car) battery. When driving you can select "towing" and then the cars' alternator will charge the leisure battery, which your fridge will be running off, because you ...

Re: All things electrical question from a newbie
* I've not ever managed to get the 13amp sockets working....should I assume that these will only work if I'm connected to the mains (which I've not done yet)? This is a common question, and unless you can find a big chunky inverter somewhere then they will only work on Hookup. * Should both batterie...

Re: Battery charger
If you are going to run a coolbox, or fridge, absolutely forget any optimate chargers, or lidle chargers. They are great for topping up/conditioning your battery, but absolutely hopeless at providing real usable power when you are on hookup. Something like this: http://www.amperorassociates.co.uk/c-...

Re: Makeshift Solar
You absolutely need a solar charger/regulator, but these can be cheap as chips if you buy a basic one. As for a panel, just aim for 80w min if you want to run your fridge in summer. The briefcase panels that are on Maplins and the likes, are a generously rated 14watts. It just isn't enough to do muc...
