Holiday idea wanted ...
We were fooled by the promise of good weather this summer and so planned to spend our holiday in England rather than going to Europe. The weather is looking much worse than expected and I am getting pressure to find some sun. If we had 3 weeks, we would go to northern Spain and hike in the mountains...

Just remember to be aware of vehicle and distraction crimes - particularly around aires and Barcelona. Keep your doors locked when travelling and ensure that someone stays in the vehicle if you have to stop to deal with an issue such as punctures - some crimes have started with thieves puncturing a...

Re: Think I have everything sorted...
Sounds a great trip - very similar to one that we were planning for this Summer but had to postpone due to inconsiderate relatives holding their birthday parties in the middle of our proposed holiday  We did a similar trip 3 years ago. Just watch out for the wind in N E Spain - it gets bluster...

Re: Late Night Security - thanks for your cooperation.
We will take the appropriate action once things have calmed down a bit. We are considering other complaints/issues as well. Sorry Ian but I do not think that anything less than a complete ban for the culprit will satisfy many people. I would be very reluctant to attend events if there seemed to be ...

Re: Chinese Lanterns Banned at The Bash
They are being banned in Beijing .... http://www.china.org.cn/china/2011-02/12/content_21904282.htm Well NO they are not being banned, this is the first line of the article; Beijing authorities yesterday announced a ban on setting off fireworks and firecrackers near high-rise buildings during next ...

Re: Chinese Lanterns Banned at The Bash
It's bad enough that we have no option nowadays other than to have to buy necessities from China. When it comes to buying frivolities from them, the Chinese must be celebrating the stupidity of our economic suicide by releasing fireworks and lanterns all over their nearby tinder strewn landscape wi...

Re: Chinese Lanterns Banned at The Bash
Most fireworks have a short range and I have only set them off in places where I knew that they could cause minimal damage - in most cases, they have landed in my garden or that of my neighbour. Doesn't quite compare to setting off a flame that can travel miles. I am not against having fun ... I jus...

Re: Chinese Lanterns Banned at The Bash
According to the Guardian, German states have now banned the sale of the lanterns following the death of a 10-year-old boy in a house fire caused by a sky lantern in North Rhine-Westphalia. Lanterns are banned in Australia and a site reporting the death of a cow that ate a lantern: http://www.telegr...

Re: Chinese Lanterns Banned at The Bash
Anyway, whats to stop a few people wandering along the riverbank & letting a few lanterns go from the park ???? Hopefully the realisation that sending a wire framed flame up into the air with no means of controlling it is not the best idea. Not only do people get hurt by the hot wax, but buildi...

Re: Daily Titter - content warning!
An elderly couple went to the doctors to ask advice about trying for a baby. The doctor was a bit surprised and asked them to explain. They said that they thought that it would be a good time to start before their sexual performance declined; he being 86 and she being 84, they were a little worried ...

Re: North Africa Round Trip Liberation of Libya
Could people suggest itinerary for this trip or legs of it .... with options for 2, 3 month and possibly longer trips? I haven't been to any of the countries between Tunisia and Turkey and would love to get some ideas of things to see apart from the obvious Pyramids and Jerusalem .... We will do the...
