Water Leak Somewhere

Hi All, Had my 2.5d Bongo for over 9 years mainly trouble free, but now have a water leak (or at least I'm having to top up coolant often). I've looked for the leak, the garage has looked, having had the Bongo for a week and run it up on the ramps hot, left it overnight indoors on cardboard etc. but...

Re: replacing one tyre after a puncture

Wouldn't have thought that amount of wear would cause any significant problem, the diff will handle the tiny difference in rotation speed, so you won't get any windup of the viscous clutch assuming your AWD. Thanks, looking elsewhere online reports much the same, with 25% to 50% of wear being accep...

replacing one tyre after a puncture

Hi All I've just had a puncture and need a new tyre (not repairable). The tyre has 2mm of wear (from 8mm new to 6mm now). Question is can I just replace the single tyre or will that 2mm wear compared to the other side wind up the transmission and cause problems? Should I change both tyres even thoug...

Removing the steering wheel

Hi All I need to remove the steering wheel to get it back true (came back from the garage not at centre when the wheels are straight). I had a go a while back and made it nearly true but when I try now I can't work out how on earth I got the wheel off? How do you remove the centre part covering the ...

Radiator cooling ATF - flow and contents

Hi The feedpipe for ATF to the radiator has popped off the metal pipe ends twice and they slowly work their way towards the end of the pipe despite me attaching them with double jubilee clips done up VERY tightly. I'd like to check the flow for the ATF through the radiator as I wonder if this has a ...

Re: ATF leakage - stuck in France - advice please

Thanks for your help. I went to the garage Thursday morning and looked at the Bongo. The garage was claiming the pipe was leaking and the insurance people couldn't get one to him so it looked like we'd have to get the Bongo back on a low loader - at a cost of £2700!! (They were then querying if the ...

Re: ATF leakage - stuck in France - advice please

Off to look at the Bongo this morning. Don't beleive the garage has even looked at it, and all they say to the breakdown people is we need a new pipe and they can't get one made up or get one sent within 14 days. I believe the pipe is OK (if a bit short, I will replace in slow time when I get home) ...

Re: ATF leakage - stuck in France - advice please

Thanks for the replies. I will get the garage to check the flow through the rad - where the ATF goes - perhaps with an air hose to check the flow. They are trying to get a new pipe sent over for tomorrow, so we'll see how they get on. Previous trouble with the pipe was it kept leaking from either en...

ATF leakage - stuck in France - advice please

Hi I am camping at Bourg D'Oasians and tried to go up Alp D'Huez. Near the top the Bongo blew a ATF feed hose to the radiator off and we dumped 5 litres of ATF on the road and lost drive. I reconnected the pipe and the recovery man filled up the transmission fluid. We set off back up to pick up the ...

Re: Sleeping up top.

321-away also do a cut right across the roof, if you search for it. We had it done and its been great. They can do the job in a short time too as they have a few ready made so just change the roof in yours for one already done.

Happy camping.

Re: planing journey

Hi We've done South coast to Skye in a day, not in the Bongo but in an old VW. It took a while but was OK as the roads become very exciting with mountains etc to look at as you get up "North". I'd have thought Preston to Skye would be easy. We're booked into Skye accommodation Summer Half ...
