Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

No they haven't removed the head(s) They are going by the fact they can't feel any resistance offered back through the followers pushing back on the cam. This should stop you from easily turning the cams... is this true? Is there a good sectional or piece part drawing of the valve train....? are the...

Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

Hi all, finally bit the bullet and got a local garage in Braintree to take a look at it... Not such good news. :( . it appears there is a significant amount of damage in the engine... to a degree that allows the cams to turn over by hand quite easily. They tell me this shouldn't happen like that. Re...

Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

Mike ... I honestly try to forget  but well remembered Jim .. thats what I want to hear.. not that you had issue ofcourse.. I mean that the issues you had never resulted in valve damage.. I think I'll prep for a belt change (Belt, seals, waterpump, etc) and see how we go... If it turns out to b...

Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

Hi all, Thanks for your replies so far.... =D> =D> I bought the car in Feb 2011 and it's prob' covered about 25-30K kilometers since then. Where I got the bongo from I asked them to have the cambelt changed. It had only arrived from Japan the day before I first saw it. And on that day I returned hom...

Re: Good news and Bad news ... looking for help!

I think they are all the same. When ours split (due to minus 20 temps and freezing of the anti freeze) I got a replacement unit from an older van and it was a straight swap over for the matrix. It was a bit of a faff to get the unit out since I could not get in to the clips to remove the top withou...
