Re: ceiling hatch conversion

Hi Silvern. I can want to give this a go but can’t see you images. Is there any way you could post them again please? Sorry for the delay, I don't visit the forum as often these days, I've tried to re-link the photos in my original post here, fingers crossed... This has worked well for me over the ...

Re: ceiling hatch conversion

This has worked well for me over the past 7 years... I didn't want to faff about with big boards or expensive conversions so I experimented a bit and eventually ended up taking out the AFT ceiling panel and replacing it with fabric-covered timber slats that roll/fold back. https://www.imageupload.co...

Try http://www.imageupload.co.uk It works in a similar way to how the Photobucket site used to work. You register a free account and then upload photos. It then provides you with a variety of codes & links to use as you wish. This photo is hosted on imageupload.co.uk https://www.imageupload.co.u...

Re: First trip using the base seconds as an awning

But silvern, presumably this means if you drive away you then have to flop that side of the tarp down over the tent? Yes that is a downside of my budget set up! I usually just unattach the tarp from the van, and peg the loose side down. Needs a bit of adjustment when we get back as the van is never...

Re: Mazda RX8 Spare wheel

I run RX8 alloys and keep a full size steel wheel as a spare. I made sure the rolling diameter is the same, despite the wheel itself being smaller than the RX8. Obviously the tyre width is slightly different, so not perfect, but better than a space saver and cheaper than having a spare alloy underne...

Re: First trip using the base seconds as an awning

We use the Base Seconds with a tarp attached to the van. Works well for us and provides a large dry/shady eating area, and covered access to the tent from the van without blocking the side door. I had some 8mm beading sewn onto one side of the tarp so that it can attach to the gutter via a figure-ei...

Re: Wheel arch trims

I bought these ones: https://van-x.co.uk/mazda-bongo-ford-freda-wheel-arch-trims-set-of-8.html There are alternatives, but the 'proper' Mazda ones are quite rare, and expensive. The Van-X parts do the job for me. Photos of my van below... http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k25/neasil/Bongo/20150925_1...

Re: Wheel arch trims/covers

I would be interested to know how you attached yours (no instructions came with ours!). Yes, no instructions with mine either - just a bag of rivets and some mounting holes on the parts. Initially I tried bonding them on with 3M VHB tape (super strong double sided foam tape) to avoid using screws o...

Re: Basic MPG stats ?

I've tracked my diesel 4wd on Fuelly since 2010. My average is 24.7mpg, my best was 29.4mpg. 20ish around town, mid/high 20's at normal motorway speed.

Re: Seized alloys - Help/advice please

When this happens to me I replace all the wheel nuts, lower the car back onto the road, then loosen the nuts a couple of turns (but not too much) then give the van a few pushes side to side. The weight of the van rocking should loosen the wheel off the hub. You can then jack it back up and carry on.

Re: Calling those with modified temp guages

I have finally got round to carrying out the mod on the temp guage recently. Driven round town a few times and the needle stays at approx 75% (using the scale of 0% being the start of the white arc line and 100% being the end of the arc before reaching the H block) Drove on the motorway today appro...

Re: Accident Damage

seems strange they've written it off. Maybe the accessor didn't value it correctly (didn't know what he wad looking at?). My 97 diesel was repaired last year (pass door, sliding door, rear wing, alloy, tyre ). The insurance company spent over £2k on the repairs. They never even mentioned writing it ...
