Yes the mechanic is paying for it. Can't find anything on ebay or with google search. Bongobits phone appears to be out of action so no help there either.

Re: Another intermittent fuel problem
There is a post from the knowledgable owner of the bongo garage ex kelty/now kirkaldy who explains that the harsh winter we just encountered has resulted in a sharp increase in fuel pump failures in a lot of jap import cars, not just bongos. He has seen this first hand, the diesel specialist he uses ...

Re: diesel leak
We're getting 2 bongos a week now with leaky fuel pumps, not the usual case of replacing all the O rings which we do ourselves but internal and gasket leaks, worn drive shafts and worn woodruff keys. These internal bits need real expertise and testing equipment. For this work we use Patterson ...

Re: Fuel Pumps - Diesel
It's not just the price of the pumps, but the removal, refit and set up.From recent personal experience, trying to get someone to work on these is very difficult. Many experienced highly recommended mechanics took one look and decided it wasn't for them. The local Mazda dealership didn't have a good ...

Re: Cutting Out
note your car is a 99, is it the later type pump with electronics? if so then that price is about right for a full rebuild as they (should) replace the sensors etc.
From your description first port of call should have been the tank breather, and to try running the car without the filler cap in ...

UPDATE:
Tried numerous local garages including the local Mazda dealership and no one would attempt the job.Eventually broke down and the AA approved repairer also refused to undertake the work so the van was transported to McAllisters diesel specialists in Cumbernauld where it's been since Friday ...

Cutting Out
Bought my Bongo in April and it's been relatively trouble free...1999 S plate old model 2.5 diesel.A couple of times during the summer it would cut out as I took my foot of the accelerator approaching junctions/roundabouts and take a bit of persuading to start again. These were isolated incidents and ...
