Re: Possible Coolant System Issues

The bongo temperature gauge is not known for moving from the 11 'O' clock position until it's too late. If it was at the 1 'o' clock position that would cause me concern. When I bled my previous bongo it took about 45 mins before the bottom hose started to warm up. Then you get a release of more air...

Replacing Aircon Compressor - Advice Needed

Has anyone attempted to replace the aircon compressor on a 2.5TD? Mine has been seized since I bought it, with the belt removed. A road trip to hotter climates means it needs to been done soon. Has anyone written a blow by blow account on here about changing one ? I can't find anything on here. I'm ...

Under Engine Cover - Bolt Size ??

Having removed the under engine cover to do maintenance I've mislaid the bolts that secure it to the vehicle. Tried AVA they don't stock them and getting them from Mazda will cost a arm & leg. Anyone know the bolt size/spec for the engine cover.. Cheers in advance

Re: Front engine oil leak 2.5 TD

Outside possibility, I had a leak from the steering rack on a previous bongo which sprayed quite high up and around the front, even though the leak originates from low down.Could look like a oil leak on first observation. Check the level of the power steering fluid. This is found under the drivers s...

Soot from Vent on Turbo Heat Shield

I have a slight lack of acceleration and power from a recently bought 1996(N) 2WD 2.5TD. With the engine exposed and looking from the passenger side. The right hand side of the heat shield that covers the turbo has soot around one of the vents in the shield. There's a slight hiss as well when I'm dr...

Re: AFT Roof Cut Off Unit Coming Off

Update on how the unit is secured to the AFT ceiling. With the roof raised enough to gain comfortable access. Facing the front of the vehicle, as you look up you see the unit that houses the AFT ceiling light and the cut out switch for the raising roof. There's a sticker in front of the plastic casi...

AFT Roof Cut Off Unit Coming Off

Greetings After selling my unconverted bongo of 12 years last year, I've now reinvested in a full side conversion. It's has a number of issues so I imagine I will be back here again soon. Firstly the unit on the AFT ceiling that houses the switch you need to press before lowering the roof, is coming...

Re: Rev Counter Erratic on Manual Gearbox Bongo

Thanks Bob, yes I think the prime suspect has to be the alternator. Any ideas what the output voltage should be at tick over. I think that would nail it if low

Rev Counter Erratic on Manual Gearbox Bongo

Rev counter unresponsive when first starts then springs into life after a little bit.
Any ideas ? I'm thinking possible alternator failing, not putting out enough power until revs are at higher levels

Thanks in advance

Re: Diesel Dripping From Area of Pump -- In Spain -- Advice Needed

Thanks Mike,Read a few posts and tried the following.Got a small 10mm socket to tighten the 2 10mm nuts that secure the dome shaped cover on the pump, where it looked like the leak might be coming from. One did feel a little slack, but unfortunately after starting the engine the drip appeared again ...

Diesel Dripping From Area of Pump -- In Spain -- Advice Needed

Hi, On a road trip through France and Spain. Noticed the mpg was a little down compared to last trip. Being checking fluid levels before I move on to next destination and I noticed diesel dripping from what I think is the area of the diesel pump, under the drivers side. It only appears to drip when t...

Aircon Regas 950g or 1150g - Which is Correct ?

On the most recent fact sheet it states 950g R134A of gas for a dual system. Previously I note it stated 1150g of R134A for a dual system. Can anyone advise on the correct amount, getting it done first thing in the morning...
