Re: Glow plugs, such thing as "service interval or .....

:) I'm still non the wiser on my glow plugs condition as I could only measure the total current which was 29A falling to 19A which I think is about right but noone seems to have measured a known good set of plugs. Someone else did the same as me and got about 17A but I don't know if they had four go...

Re: Glow plugs, such thing as "service interval or .....

Several people have previously recommended waiting for the light to go out, switch ignition off and on then wait for the light to go out a second time before attempting to start. Given that the glowplugs remain powered for several minutes it would actually be better to wait for the light to go out ...

Re: Wasdale

In 1972 I stayed in the bunkhouse at the Wastwater Head Hotel it was about 5p for the night! Walked there from the Youth Hostel at the other end of the lake where my GF was staying with her mates. Never known darkness like it, just glow worms everywhere. Meanwhile my motorbike was broken down in Ken...

Re: 1995 rear springs

Picked up a set of second hand rear springs for a bargain £30.00 including delivery. They were on the "to get" list cause the MOT has an advisory "rust on rear springs". But looking at the strength of the springs and gauge (about 15mm estimated) how the hell they would rust thro...

There is a thread on here somewhere about cribbing blocks which could be good for back up.

Re: Low coolant alarm and leisure battery chirping.

A very simple solution is to use a piggyback fuse holder. It plugs in in place of any fuse that becomes live with the ignition on and has two fuse ways, one for the donor fuse which will work exactly as before and one for your new piece of kit with a wire tail to connect to. Car audio places sell th...

Re: Leisure Battery and Hook Up Technical Question

If you are planning to run a fridge or anything power hungry from the rear 12V socket you should run a decent sized pair of wires as the original wiring is inadequate.

Re: In France - rear exhaust fallen off - advice appreciated

A good temporary fix is to split a drinks can wrap it round the pipe and jubilee clip it into place. Mine went a few weeks ago and this bodge saw me thru till pay day... I think it is snapped off at the weld where pipe is perpedicular to flat end of box. I used the drinks can dodge on the other end...

Re: Bongo Problem - Is it serious???!

Was it a genuine Mazda Head? There was a case on here about a year or so ago where a chap had a new built up head delivered and the bolts on the camshaft journals were loose and the valve clearances weren't set correctly. It could be camshaft come loose or such like and nothing to do with the Redex.

Re: Bongo smoking from underneath

Not exactly but as I took it to them the first time I would rather take it back to the same place as I am hoping they might be be able identify the problem having looked at it before rather than someone completely blind to it. They assured me that it was re-filled and bled correctly so don't really...

Re: Bongo smoking from underneath

So is that more likely to have caused the second overheating that say, the coolant not being bled and re-filled correctly? The damage could have been done by the initial coolant loss or it could have been done after refilling. I don't know how you would prove it one way or another if you haven't ha...

Re: Bongo smoking from underneath

I think it would help to establish if it's actually smoke, or steam that you are seeing. Steam would be what you'd expect to find when the hot coolant is exposed to the atmosphere. Smoke would be a completely different thing & would suggest significant engine failure. If you've had some issues ...

Re: Easycamp Daytona Awning - my review...

I,ve had one for four seasons now and found it quite good. in most respects. The tunnel can be a bit baggy but I've never noticed the noise. I think it is designed for a bigger van really. Don't ever get a Caravanstore is all I can say, ;) they make a frightful noise in the wind(I know you are suppo...
