Re: Front Heater Hassle

Just back from the Bongo Master. Thermostat function checked and all OK. Heater matrix flushed through half a dozen times..both ways. Plenty of crud and corrosion in the flush. Now back to normal heat so either an air-lock in the matrix or blocked waterways. Bottom radiator hose changed at the same ...

Re: Front Heater Hassle

Hi, I am pretty sure that the chap who carried out the work would have set the heater controls to hot.
He says that he has replaced a few heater matrix's but only due to leaks and has not yet come across a blocked unit.
I think we will try and drain and refill the coolant as a first step and give ...

Re: Cooling System Flush....Problems

On this continuing theme of coolant stuff.....Do all Bongo expansion header tanks become opaque? I assume this is due to age or staining from various coolant solutions, or possibly evidence of previous overheating.

Can they be cleaned? Is there a source of new ones or is it a breakers yard forrage ...

Re: Cooling System Flush....Problems

Many thanks for all of your advice and guidance.
New Mazda thermostat is on its way. Low coolant alarm already fitted to calm my paranoia.

The mechanic is " A Good un" and hopefully the second flush and a good sound bit of agressive counselling to the cylinder head will do the trick.

Failing that ...

No. The mechanic informed me that as the hoses were on, temperature wise, that it was not required. Also that the thermostat was difficult to get at.
