Yep couldnt agree more. It works, but its brutal... and sooo suboptimal.
So why aren't we all working for a car manufacturer then?

Dear me - was it the one quoted here? https://www.damninteresting.com/the-mechanical-battery/ (see Gyrobus) or here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrobus " Instead of a conventional engine, the bus carried a three-ton rotating steel wheel attached to an unusual electric motor." So one big...

There was a French company that said they would have compressed air cars on the market within a couple of years - they were doing a deal with Tata. Its easier to do in India where its warmer - in the UK the engine would tend would freeze :| https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compressed_air_car Not sure w...

Re: Latest journey 36 MPG roughly (diesel)....
Yes. I'd love to kit out a Bongo with 4 inhub motors. Throw away all the heavy drive train. Load of Ultra-Caps and ESC's for drive and recovery, then LIFE4's for main supply all backed up by occasional turbine generator runs using LPG as required. Trouble is you have no waste heat to use for cabin c...

Re: Latest journey 36 MPG roughly (diesel)....
It takes a lot of work to accelerate 2 tons of Bongo. Once done though, the vehicle is invested with significant momentum. Every time that energy, for any reason, is braked off (as it may be on twisty/hilly roads) the momentum gets thrown away and the cycle must be repeated. Also, that big diesel b...

I dont think the Khyam QE can be beaten. We _love_ our motordome. Everyone we camp with is jealous of the speed it goes up/down. Means I end up helping them though.... A friend turned up with a Coleman "60second" tent last year. We laughed our way through the 60minute calamity. PS I really...

I replaced all my connections years ago with Neutrik Speakons - 30A accross each pair of poles, rock solid, very low resistance and positive loking. Love 'em. Now for size I'm switching some to EC5's ie http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__56997__5_Pairs_of_EC5_Connector_Male_Female_.html wh...

Re: Help! Losing Coolant in Scotland
there are 2 small gauge coolant pipes that cool the turbo that are just above the oil filter, or on the chassis rail is the supply pipe to the rear heater, it maybe just one of these, all fixable on the road side. just the bleeding to sort properly, then you should be ok to carry on. Well you naile...
