Dear me - was it the one quoted here? https://www.damninteresting.com/the-mechanical-battery/ (see Gyrobus) or here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrobus
" Instead of a conventional engine, the bus carried a three-ton rotating steel wheel attached to an unusual electric motor."
There was a French company that said they would have compressed air cars on the market within a couple of years - they were doing a deal with Tata. Its easier to do in India where its warmer - in the UK the engine would tend would freeze :|
Yes. I'd love to kit out a Bongo with 4 inhub motors. Throw away all the heavy drive train. Load of Ultra-Caps and ESC's for drive and recovery, then LIFE4's for main supply all backed up by occasional turbine generator runs using LPG as required.
Trouble is you have no waste heat to use for cabin ...
It takes a lot of work to accelerate 2 tons of Bongo. Once done though, the vehicle is invested with significant momentum. there are 2 small gauge coolant pipes that cool the turbo that are just above the oil filter, or on the chassis rail is the supply pipe to the rear heater, it maybe just one of these, all fixable on the road side.
just the bleeding to sort properly, then you should be ok to carry on.

Hi Mike it's almost impossible to find a petrol car without    ....I don't like them, so I was looking hard to find a petrol Jeep without!!!! Cheers Helen
I'm intrigued - what do you have against petrol/gas conversions? Our current Bongo is 5 years overdue dieing and I was planning ...
