Re: Lake district
Waterside House campsite on Ullswater is lovely: http://www.watersidefarm-campsite.co.uk/ - right on the shore of the lake, great facilities and only a 10 min walk into Pooley Bridge where there are three nice pubs. On the other side of the Lakes, Church Stile in Nether Wasdale is also nice: http://...

Re: JAL Conversions
I have a JAL converted Bongo and it's a super vehicle, the chap who did it's last MOT was very impressed at its condition. Re the conversion, my advice would be to be as clear as possible about what you want, especially if you want something non-standard. Phil's converters did a good job adapting th...

Re: Hi, and roofs.
And well done for reminding me - the manual lifting roofs one will score better than AFTs as they are very slim and allow a Bongo to still go in multi-storey height limited car parks, as well as minimising wind resistance and the problems that result etc. Some retro-fitted manual roofs are lower pr...

I can second the vote for Fforest Fields, just got back from a lovely weekend there. They have a brand new shiny facilities block just opened on 1st June too.

Re: Solar starter battery charger
Further discussion with my father-in-law (retd auto mechanic) has also revealed that my original battery was not up to the job: he said you need a minimum of 95Ah for a diesel engine and mine was only 90Ah so it was being stretched to its limit every time the engine was started, which is why it only...

Re: Solar starter battery charger
Thanks Ron, useful info! =D> I've bought a 4.8W panel from Maplin, and am going to ask my brother-in-law to re-wire the cigar lighter so it can plug in there and sit on the dashboard. When the AA man checked the drain on the battery there was virtually none (my alarm/immob runs off my LB); it was ju...

Solar starter battery charger
I've just had to replace the starter battery in my Bongo as it was about to fail, and was recommended to use a trickle charger to keep the starter battery topped up. My Bongo lives at a friend's house and I only use it once a month or so in winter (usually every week or two in summer so it's less of...

Re: Starter battery question....
In case it's of any help to anyone, I've just had this battery fitted from Halfords: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_264171_langId_-1_categoryId_165762#dtab Bongo wouldn't start this morning (after not being used for 4 weeks so not su...

Re: Front fogs not working
Thanks, that sounds a bit easier to follow!
I do have a leisure battery (and factory-fitted fogs) so I'll see if I can work it out. If not I'll see if my brother-in-law can sort it out at Xmas, as he knows Bongos.
Cheers

Front fogs not working
I noticed today that my front fog lamps are both not working (I have a new shape 1999 TD). Changed the fuse but that didn't help so I'm wondering if the bulbs have both blown - does anyone have any tips on changing the bulbs? The factsheet only covers headlamps, side lamps and rear cluster. Any othe...

Re: cley next to sea ?
Super part of the country, the North Norolk coast from Brancaster to Cromer..... luckily a "hidden" gem as many folks don't go there...... Totally agree there, we had a lovely 'Gourmet Bongoing' trip in the summer, staying in West Runton and Wells and pootling along the coast road stoppin...

sliding door electric closing (or not)
Over the last couple of months I've noticed that the electric closing on the sliding door isn't always working, or takes 10-15 seconds to activate. It clicks and whirs a bit (like it's "thinking" about it) before working, or just doesn't work at all. Then mysteriously it will be fine for a...

Re: Lake district must dos!
The Lake District is fab, we go at least twice a year and have just come back from a week in Coniston :D If you want a nice spot to watch the sun go down, drive up out of Coniston on the Walna Scar road. Keep going till you get to the fell gate, open it to go through and park up in the little parkin...

where to buy a new bleed hose?
Following my discovery of a leaky bleed hose, I now need a new one. I thought the shop stocked them but I can't see them listed. Please could someone point me to where I can buy one fairly quickly? (i.e. needed by the weekend).
Thanks.
Thanks.
