Re: Low Coolant Alarm

I believe if you read the specification correctly it states:- Temperature range external probe -31*C +125*C Physical/Environmental operating temperature -10*C +60*C This suggests to me that the temperature measuring range for the gauge are the top figures & the ambient air temperature in which t...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

Glad you made it back to the UK & sorry to still hear of your problems. I've been outside & measured a glow plug on mine. Results are as follows:- Outside ambient air temp 15*C Glow plug resistance when cold 1 ohm Heat glow plug for 5 secs (tip glowing red) resistance 48 ohms.(This value fal...

Re: unclipped drivers seat discovered oil around engine

If you crouch down inside the open drivers door & look at the injection pump with your eye level above & then look over the top of the power steering pump. You should see a metal spigot coming off the upper square part of the injection pump. This is what the vacuum hose connects too. I would...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

Yes , that basically sums it up. You did touch on one other point though. The wire you are using as a temp. fix does need to be fairly thick. Note how thick the wires are that feed the glow plugs & compare it to the size of yours. If the temp. wire is too thin it won't be able to carry the large...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

I have had a good trawl using the forum search & am unable to find any other favorite rubbing through/ shorting out area's for the glow plug positive feed. I have also been outside & had alook at mine to see if I could spot anything that may give concern..... The only thing I did see is that...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

If the 30 amp fuse blew straight away & the wire gets hot whilst connected to the battery + terminal, you have a dead short circuit somewhere. DO NOT try & make the electrical connection any better until you find what is causing the short circuit. All that will happen is the electric wires w...

Re: unclipped drivers seat discovered oil around engine

Them's the pic's.
I have to agree, there shouldn't be alot of oil blowing out of that hole, maybe a bit of a misting, but if the intercooler is full of oil it's going to want taking off & emptying out.
On the up side if this is the problem.... we know the turbo is working OK.

Re: unclipped drivers seat discovered oil around engine

The alloy thing that you are looking at is the air inlet manifold for the engine. A large diameter (about 60mm) black pipe should be connected to the front of this with a jubilee clip. This pipe then goes down to the intercooler on the front of your Bongo underneath the radiator. On the side of the ...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

I have just been out to mine.I have disconnected the fuseable link & the glow plug relay still clicks. I think the fuse able link is busted. There appears to be a bit of slack in the fuseable link wire. I'm just wondering if the wire was chopped at the connector would it reach you + battery term...

Re: In France - Bongo not starting

The fuseable link is a thick fuse wire. It is about 75mm long & extends from the battery + terminal down to an electric connector. You squeeze together the connector & it should come apart. You need to get a temporary live feed to that connector some how. Either a short piece of wire, (with ...

Re: Rear axle oil

Rear Axle oil for rear dif. without LSD = SAE 90 GL5
Rear Axle oil for rear dif. with LSD = SAE 90 GL6

Either axle will hold about 1.5 litres.

Re: Design Fault

My quoted temperatures for Japanese areas are extremes & I stand by them. When designing any product, you have to consider the extremes of the environment in which it is going to operate & then factor in a safety margin. The Great Pretender wrote:- Ambient average temperature in Japan (max s...

Re: Blocked bleed pipe

Oh dear, that doesn't look good! I would undo the tap on the drivers side bottom of the radiator & try taking a sample of the coolant from there. If the coolant sample has traces of crud/sediment in it , you may have to consider a thourough flushing of your coolant system. ( if you take ...

Re: Tyre Recommendation Please

I hope you don't mind me butting in for advice here. I have 17 inch alloys. And I'm slightly confused by the sizing. Can I fit 225's on them? I currently have 255's. but the 225' are miles cheaper. This is going to depend on the size of your wheel (width ways.. the same as the tread) If the wheel i...
