Re: European breakdown cover
ADAC - German company. Full European cover including UK so unlimited trips to continent (AA cover UK breakdowns) for around £88 per year for me and the wife with 1997 Bongo and 2001 Defender. No age limit on vehicles, will also recover trailers and caravans. Try and find that level of cover for less ...

Flashing Glow plug light - SOLVED
I searched for this topic for pointers as to what to look for and found that the cause of the flashing glow plug light was a fuse on the willinton dual battery kit that I had installed.
The bottom 15A fuse had blown. Problem solved, don't know what that bottom fuse is for or how it blew though.

Re: Coolant hose failure - how to get to the garage
Just to update and close this thread off...
I managed to drive the bongo to the garage, I took a fair time and carried 20 litres of water with me. I took the expansion vessel lid off and kept topping up the coolant and stopping. It was just over 1.5 miles. The temp needle didn't actually move until ...

Thanks for the replies.
It is a 4WD auto - so I assume that towing is out of the question - be good to know why though ;-)
They are a bongo specialist and I have used them before now so I feel they are quite trust worthy - they did say that towing should not be attempted and also that the cylinder ...

Coolant hose failure - how to get to the garage
A coolant hose split in my Bongo over the Xmas period and as there were no garages open, I got recovered back home. I have no idea which hose has split or where the leak is - fortunately, the coolant alarm went off and I pulled over straight away before any overheating occured.
Question is I have ...

Re: Does tyre circumference really matter with 4wd?
To add some real world experience, my bongo front diff exploded in a plume of black smoke when I had just 10mm rolling radius difference between the front and rear tyres. That was after 50 miles of motorway driving and was quite spectacular. I now have the same size all round (the larger of the two ...

Re: Show us yer insides
We've just got back from a road trip around Europe before which I spent two weeks building a rear cooking and storage unit with top lockers. It worked really well apart from a couple of design improvements.

Re: Ctek Battery Charger
What length of cable did your ctek confort panel socket come with. I was about to install mine on the weekend but it looks like there isn't enough cable to run from the LB to the spare dashboard socket shown in your pictures.
Which hole did you use in the bulk head?
Cheers.

Battery charging with a Willinton Kit
I have had a bit of a poke around but can't seem to find any answers...
I have a Willinton Kit installed and I need to charge my starter battery. I have a meaty CTEK charger mainly for charging and topping up the Leisure battery between trips as the Bongo isn't used every day.
If I connect the ...

Re: Tyres and drive shaft
I am sure there was a recent case where a diff blew because of different sized tyres.
Yep, that was me. The diff casing split it got so hot and spilled all of the diff oil all over the place (it caught fire on the motorway). The diff was replaced for £300 plus fitting. It was the rolling radius ...

Re: A very foolish bongonaught with a fried front diff :-(
Just a follow up really.
I got my Bongo recovered to the garage by a local firm for £50+vat. I got a replacement front diff from Bongobits - great service, prompt delivery. The garage fitted the new diff and put it all back together (cos I removed the front drive shaft to see if it would move) in ...

Re: A very foolish bongonaught with a fried front diff :-(
Wisdom and clarity...thanks. Mister Munkey. At least it only took an hour to remove the drive shaft. I'll leave it up to the garage to re-fit it.
Better get ringing around in the morning.
Cheers.

thedogsbollox, did you have home start when you did the AA trick or just roadside relay which is was I have?

Re: A very foolish bongonaught with a fried front diff :-(
Thanks for the info.
I will have a go when the weather dries up a bit and post some progress.
If I have to remove the front diff as well just to get the car moving, is that an order of magnitude more complex or does the 4wd to 2wd factsheet make it straight-forward.
