Diesel leak

Would welcome an opinion before I take Bongo to garage tomorrow. Very strong hot diesel smell after relatively short run. Fuel dripping onto undertray and dropping on drive. Recently had fuel pump seals replaced after leak from this area (now ok) but now noticed leak from far left glow plug (?) top ...

Re: Servicing in the Region

Just returned from holiday in Norfolk over Bank Holiday. Had a problem with brakes. Went on forum and found Andy's Imports near Norwich. What a gem of a guy! Arranged to take Bongo in at first opportunity. Not only did he stop what he was doing but cleared out workshop to get vehicle on ramps and pr...

Depressed

After two trouble free years everything seems to be happening at once! Just had new waterpump fitted to solve coolant leak and now have vehicle in for planned bodywork. Had call today from bodyshop asking me to view before they started. Worse than I thought and slightly worried that this could be th...

Time for TLC

The ravages of a salty winter here in Devon are taking their toll and look to be eating my Bongo from the inside. Its time to bite the bullet and put her in for a bit of TLC. To say I'm nervous is an understatement! I need to get rust addressed on front offside wing and wheel arches sorted. Is this ...

Re: Head gasket

Went to see Allans in Plymouth. What a gem of a guy. Took one look at oil leak and told me not to worry as they all seem to suffer that way. What a relief! Lesson learnt - it pays to go to garages that know Bongos. Sadly now need a new wing mirror glass as some ...... pinged mirror while parked in P...

Re: Head gasket

Thanks for swift replies - most helpful. Will sleep a little easier tonight! Will check exactly where oil is coming from when light tomorrow. I have a suspicion it is drivers side. Rocker gasket sounds much cheaper! I am based in Chudleigh, Devon. Bought van from Topsham but not sure about their wor...

Head gasket

Some advice please. Just had bongo in garage today for oil change, coolant check and tightening alternator belt (tried the tip using wd40 but that didn't cure squeaking on tick over). All now ok and running sweet. Was advised by mechanic that head gasket is weeping oil and needs attention. I keep a ...

Re: Noise when reversing

All sorted. Turned out it was the rear brake pads catching on disks as suggested. Peace has returned! :D

Noise when reversing

I need advice.
Bongo (2.5 diesel 4WD) has developed as strange scraping/grating noise when reversing. (Not disimilar to a bacon slicer) Not present when in forward gears. Not easy to pinpoint but doesn't seem to be bearings or brakes. Any ideas before I go to see my friendly mechanic?
