Re: Something loose in gearbox - loud noise
I got that sort effect when a fan belt broke and the broken belt was flailing around and catching the alternator fins. It still drove ok because there are 2 belts...

Re: Help with strange engine noise *video*
Hey Dandy, Having thought about it some more, when I got home today I had a look at the Exhaust Manifold - surprise surprise stud no 1 is snapped... Can't really seee much in the way of soot and mine only screeches when first started then it is quiet. Is that how they tend to behave when that stud g...

Re: Help with strange engine noise *video*
Thanks Dandy - pretty sure it's not slipping belts - they are only about one year old and are deffo the right ones. Did you listen to the youtube video? That's the noise which doesn't sound like a belt (to me anyway).

Re: Help with strange engine noise *video*
Debee - tried PMing you but not done that before so not sure if it has worked. After a monster journey all the way from Scrabster to Somerset in one go (560ish miles in about 12 hours) my beloved is now making EXACTLY the same noise as yours. It only does it when cold and stops after about 20 second...

Yup - had a custom one made at Long Life exhausts - it is quite noisy but I love it. Was about £300

Re: Help please, pela pump stuck!
Interesting - I also did exactly this with a Pela - in fact in my case I had to use so much brute force to pull it out that the metal coil of the tube unravelled, effectively destroying it. So it's binned and I need to buy a new one, but this kind of put me off really.

Re: Correct tyre pressures 15" wheels
42 front and 46 rear on unconverted 2wd AFT on original sizes (195 70 15 and 215 65 15) on Conti Vanco 2 tyres. Might sound high, but after lots of experimenting I have done this for a long time, they hardly bulge at all, and feel just right. Would be interested in others views on this though.

Re: Head lights transformed
Hi Helen. Xerapol actually comes with a small strip of wet and dry and you use it first to deal with scratches. Put "xerapol" into YouTube for a video demonstration. After I'd finished I couldn't see the result straight away as the product left the deflectors smeary. A quick going over wit...

Re: Head lights transformed
Ah yes - wind deflectors - i should have covered that also. Having lived with them being opaque for a whole year and assuming they were beyond help, I tackled them after the head lights. With the plastic polish and some more mer they now look brand new. Quite a shock this morning when I realized I w...

I'll keep you posted if it goes anywhere - the other thing is it also must not obviously restrict the air flow much (or at all...)
