Re: Slow(ish) flashing glow plug light - safe to drive?

I have just realised that I never posted an update. It was there in drafts, but I clearly got distracted by something. Home learning supervision no doubt  The issue was indeed electrical - two flat batteries and a non functioning split charge relay. We were recommended a lovely auto-electrician...

Re: Slow(ish) flashing glow plug light - safe to drive?

The Flashing Glow Plug light is a warning from the ECU that it is reporting a fault, it could be something as a simple as a flat battery, if you have a leisure battery fitted then its likely flat after little use and need charging, in which case after a second start the flashing light should not co...

Re: Slow(ish) flashing glow plug light - safe to drive?

Another thought, could you put a charger on the battery for a few hours? Also, if the multi-meter is on it's holidays, and can't be found, they aren't terribly expensive. Though none of us wants to buy something we already have. We know where it is, it's in my husband's lock-up. He's current...

Re: Slow(ish) flashing glow plug light - safe to drive?

Thanks Bob, we do apparently have a multi-meter, but it's not at home!!! Will see if I can persuade my husband to go and find it. Seymour has been sitting on a local garage forecourt for months and, I imagine, being driven 20 yards back and forth to the actual workshop to be worked on which has poss...

Slow(ish) flashing glow plug light - safe to drive?

We have finally got our Bongo back since he went to the local garage in early March for a gear box transplant. The gearbox was bought from E-Bay but seems to be doing the job although Seymour (the Bongo) has had to go back to the garage twice for potentially related issues. I drove him the 12 miles ...

Re: Gearbox whine AND not starting

Thanks, Geoff. Hope all is well with you. I imagine you are finding plenty of things to keep you busy? The replacement gearbox has a three month warranty, but the expense of having it removed and sent back to where it came from, or haggling over whether it's faulty or not via e-mail rather negates t...

Gearbox whine AND not starting

Hello all! Hope everyone is well, and still looking on the bright side. It's been ages since I ventured on to the forum  Am looking for thoughts on what may be a related problem with a "new" gearbox. Back in February, our Bongo (Seymour) started showing symptoms of gearbox trouble af...

Happy anniversary, Seymour

Should have actually posted this on 17 October, but for one reason and another .......!!! Seymour (our Bongo) has been a part of our family for ten years and four days. I would like to publicly acknowledge his sterling work in carrying us all over the place, providing warmth and shelter uncomplainin...

Re: Bongo Relay - anyone heading west (ish)?

If it can be got near Bristol/Clevedon I can hold it and I'm coming down to Allan's early next month. 8) Thank you, Bob. If there are any takers for the first bit of the journey that would be great. We could actually meet up with you at Allan's :D I think my husband is going to go and get it in his...

Re: Bongo Relay - anyone heading west (ish)?

Thanks folks, it was manufactured by NR Awnings of Todmorden who are no longer trading, so we can't ask them. From the eBay picture it looks like canvas (and thus quite weighty) without taking the poles into account.

It's not actually for the Bongo but for its new stablemate, a Portafold caravan.

Bongo Relay - anyone heading west (ish)?

I'm sure that once upon a time there was a section for this sort of question, so forgive me if this is in the wrong place BUT I wonder whether anyone with some spare room in their Bongo is heading generally westwards / south westwards from the Arundel area. We have bought a driveaway awning on EBay ...

Re: Nasty experiance in Walton on Thames.

Just read this. We stayed there a couple of years ago and absolutely loved the site. We had no problems and I have been recommending it left right and centre. May think twice about doing so now. Sorry to hear you had such a horrible welcome, and never managed to stay. Did you get any feedback from y...

Campervan Tickets at Reading Festival

Quick question, as I am sure someone on here has taken their Bongo to the Reading Festival. I have trawled their tickets / terms and conditions and can't find what I am looking for. Can anyone tell me whether I need to get a Campervan Weekend Pass and a Festival Weekend Pass or does the former inclu...

Re: Above-windscreen storage console

We use the seat back tidies for oddments such as small plates, sporks, first aid kit, pens, paper, wipes, sun cream etc. Maps and guide books go in the front door pockets and everything else goes in the glove box and the glory hole behind (or is it in front of) the gear stick!!
