Re: Climate control - no heat
Try disconnecting the servo from the flap in the passenger side foot-well & moving the pivot by hand (i think forward?) with the engine up to temp & see if you get heat from the vents...?  That would work Jamie. I did a similar thing on the linkage in the drivers foot well whi...

Re: Water pump
Couple of pics of the pump showing where it commonly leaks. The leak is on the bottom side of the pump. This is the 6 o'clock location mentioned by Ady. http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq171/widdowson2008/waterpump_3990.jpg http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq171/widdowson2008/waterpump_3989.jpg

Head Bolts.
I reproduced this from the manual. Not too clear on the forum due to size restrictions but very clear as a pdf.

Re: Engine Code/headbolts
Fit new bolts ......and get a assistant to help with the torquing and then angles. Something like 54 goes on a wrench if I remember rightly. Yep lots of work doing the torquing as Titan says but follow the Mazda manual sequence and settings cos it works. If you don't have a manual, send me a pm and...

Re: Engine Code/headbolts
pretty positive head bolts are one shot as they stretch when torqued down Not strictly true. They ARE stretch bolts and according to the manual they can be used again providing the actual measured 'stretched' length is within a specified tolerance. (let me know if you need the spec) The bolt is str...

Re: Help needed
Hi all Left it tickover for 20 minutes and the top hose got very hot, is this normal? Yes - perfectly normal. The top hose carries coolant directly from the cylinder head so this is coolant at its hottest. Not competent enough myself to answer your other questions but someone will be along shortly ...

Re: Advice needed please.....
From the engine manual, V6 'stat should open thus: Start temp: 81.5 - 84.5 Full temp: 96 Full lift (mm): 9 or above Thought so Simon. Basically the same as the diesel. What is the part number for the petrol stat - do you know? Petrol engines do run at slightly lower temperatures I've heard, but bas...

Re: Advice needed please.....
Sounds pretty good to me. In the position you currently have the sensor, coolant leaving the head has a fair length of large bore pipework to travel through before it reaches the sensor, so it will loose heat. If you had the sensor taped to the top hose as it leaves the cylinder head, you would get ...

Re: Water leak 1996 diesel
You didn't mention how much coolant you were losing. Is it a lot? or just a dribble.
How much do you need to top up and how often?

Re: Water leak 1996 diesel
Hi , I am visiting family in Glasgow and I have a water leak from the cooling system. The leak appears to be originating from the interface between the thermostat case and the thermostat cover. Does anyone have any experience of this type of leak? Should I try just tightening the bolts, or could th...

Re: Expansion tank capacity
I've been tinkering and flushed my coolant system. A necessary job as I replaced one of the metal pipes. Having a few issues The tank was at a good level when hot at 6pm, but I just added about 400ml as it had dropped. Would this amount of loss take it below the expansion pipes and therefore requir...
